Some will say it doesn't matter. My experience has been otherwise, I run Dexos1 Gen2 oil and have actually seen an improvement in mileage and eliminated the knocking on start up.

Anything 2011 up made by Chevrolet has to use Dexos approved oil

The dealer could void your warranty if you not use Dexos approved oil under warranty. They can even void your warranty if you use the wrong grade. That is not a chance I would be willing to take.

Some people say if API is written (AMERICAIN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE) so oil is OK!!
