I took delivery of a 2022 Tahoe RST on 2/11/22 with eligibility of supplier discounts for friends. I sign the service contract and take the vehicle home. The next day on 2/12/22, my salesman calls me and states the GM did not accept my authorization number because they mistakenly sold the vehicle to me under employee pricing. He tells me to come in to sign a new service contract and pay the difference of $2500 between employee and supplier pricing. I never misrepresented what discount I was eligible for as the dealership had my authorization number and used it to create my initial buyers order. Is this a common mistake made by dealers or should I seek legal recourse?

Also, after giving the vehicle its first wash, the front bumper and the rear bumper are paint matched to one another however they both do not match the body color. Is this common?

Thank you all for your time in advance.

The authorization code was provided by my friend who works for GM. The email from GM specifically stated supplier discount for friends. This was forwarded to the dealer while the vehicle was in transit. The vehicle is black.

The bumper pair issue is pretty common. It’s not a perfect match. There are a few you tube videos on that subject I believe.

I do not see how you have been harmed, yet. If by chance they refuse to process your Title/DMV work (a definite legal violation) or sick a collection company/lawyer notice, then yes you should consider a lawyer. I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

That is where you need to start with friend that got you authorization have him call GM Friends and Family to find out what is wrong with voucher, then you will find out what dealer is trying to (pull),On color do you mean color or shade.

there is nothing they can do unless your financing did or does not go through, that's the only reason we could find that they could come and take the vehicle another member went thru a similar situation recently although he bought a toyota tundra or tacoma can't remember which the dealer accidentally sold him a higher trim level vehicle and is loosing around $10k because of THERE mistake, if everything is correct "vin" and it's legally signed I am sure you are good to go. some salesman is loosing his bonus waah.
I would add the numbers up on the contract and verify the vin just to be on the safe side.
if you start to feel bad about it or something at least give them a few days to sweat it out and offer you a incentive like free oil changes or gm credit or something......it wasn't your mistake. Incentive's they can write off so wait and see what's on the table at minimum.

The entire vehicle is black. Under a handheld light, the body color is a brownish black, while the front and rear bumper are a black black.

Yes I have seen that before, they use to paint all panels and bumpers together in paint shop now I believe bumper covers are painted at different times. I have vehicle that side trim looks that way in certain light. Does it look that bad in sun light?

well.

couple different ways to go about this - but my initial thought is that when I've bought using the supplier discount, I already knew the price they were supposed to charge before I went in - there's a supplier website that allows you to build a vehicle or find one in inventory and it shows the supplier price. going to go out on a limb and guess the OP didn't go that route.

My opinion - it's their error and they should just eat the difference. Hopefully there aren't any emails/texts that cloud the situation as sometimes the acronyms can be misleading - as in a lot of people throw around "GMS" for both programs

That paint match looks terrible. Completely unacceptable for a vehicle at this price point

You couldn't see this when you picked it up? I'm not saying they shouldn't make it right....but you have a heck of a lot more leverage before you exchange funds. I looked mine over for a good half hour inside and out before I went inside to do any paperwork....

Agreed. The door guards on my 2010 have discolored a bit but the front/rear bumper covers are a perfect match.

If you financed through the dealer (which I think you did to receive all of those incentives) it seems they have 10 days to "finalize" the contract and can legally rescind it within that time frame.

If you self-financed tell the dealer to pound sand. They were already paid.

And no, if you sign a new contract for $2500 more they won't care about giving you any incentives like free oil changes unless that's their standard contract item. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

Used car dealers use this scam all of the time. They want "to get you into your new car today" and will do anything to do that so you sign the contract, drive it home, get attached to your new hoopty, and want to marry it. Then a few days later (they have 10 days), after the wedding, they say your financing didn't go through and you'll have to sign a new, more costly contract to keep your new spouse.
