I’d imagine dealers use hoses from larger containers somewhere in the back to fill the oil, not bottles.

Well they used the cover as a shelf for something!

If anyone has the same intake I have and you do a dealer oil change or service I’d probably tape it all over with blue painters tape. I found another dealer defense

I took my '23 Tahoe z71 in to my local dealer for some warranty fixes at about 300 miles; 10k in damages later I got it back. Had to take it to a body shop and was out of service for 3+ months and still isn't 100% perfect.

Did you consult an attorney?

Taking a truck in for work and it coming out needing $10K of fixes is definitely not the norm, no matter how bad of a dealer/tech we're talking about.

So, please elaborate a bit on the details.

I love it if you have any questions about the work done the service writer is the one that answers, when he did nothing but paper work never looking under the hood, yet has answers.

I had a few defects I wanted addressed (outline of airbag/wrinkle in dash leather, tear in liftgate seal, defect in rear passenger door vent window tint). Skipped the first issue as I didn't want them tearing out my dash but for the window fix, the auto glass company that the dealer uses somehow had a tool slip and it messed up the paint and dented the exterior above the rear cargo passenger window near the roofline. Dealer told me truck was done and I could pick it up but I'd need to go to a body shop for the work as they don't do that. I told them I dropped the truck off in perfect condition and it's not my problem; they need to make it right. They told me to call the glass company and work it out (which I did). I picked up my truck at the dealer a couple of days later once I got confirm from the glass company they were at fault and they would cover the damages; upon inspection at pick-up (i made the service manager do a walk around with me) I opened the tailgate to look inside and the glass guy somehow screwed up all the plastic around the passenger trunk side as well as tore the headliner.

Long story short; truck needed body work for paint and dents as well as full replacement of headliner and interior plastic pieces in cargo area. My body shop did as good a job as you could expect but nothing is ever 100% perfect. Here's a link to my original post about this; the damages ended up coming to close to 10k (original estimate in post was around 7k) and my mileage at the time was a bit off (I said about 300 or so in this post but it was actually closer to 700).

Fun fact: I had an open case with Chevy as parts were in short supply on my original warranty work; as soon as I mentioned an attorney the rep basically said they can't continue the case anymore and hung up on me.

I considered an attorney but, at the end of the day, I had a young toddler (reason why I bought the truck in the first place), repairs were scheduled and being paid for, and MSRP was still climbing regularly on these vehicles and I didn't want to lose a truck I'd waited over a year to locate and possibly have to put more money into to get into a new one.

My disappointment in Chevy, the dealer (long-time local dealer but not where I bought the truck), and quality has reinforced my decision to never buy another.

That really sucks. The Dealer should have done the right thing and ordered you a new truck with no additional cost to you. They share partial responsibility no matter what they say. I’m sure an attorney would have let them know that if you had elected to hire one. Your vehicle will never be the same once the body shop touched the original factory paint. You will take a hit on your vehicle’s value if anything was reported to Carfax.

Yep, no arguments out of me here. I confirmed prior to work starting with my body shop that nothing would be reported to Carfax so at least that part isn't a concern.

That was a smart move on your part. The days of the Dealers doing the right thing and taking care of their customers for repeat business and recommending family members, friends and neighbors to that Dealer are a thing of the past.
