I finnaly got my spectra cold air intake a couple of months ago and the gains are great. my 0-60 time when down by 0.8-0.9 seconds, improved my throttle response and get up on the highway.:pepper:.
(picture to the right is my CAI)

I did a lot of reserch on them and hopefully this will save ya'll the trouble.

#1 DONT BUY PRICEY BRAND NAME CAIs.
I payed $120(on sale)for my CAI and it works GREAT! All your paying for
when you buy a K&N CAI is the name. Its just a molded tube and a filter.
#2 If you want to get even more power from a CAI get a plastic tube.
Metal heats up faster therefore giveing your engine less cold air, in return
making your engine work a little harder.(but the metal ones look sweet!)
#3 A real CAI
Although my Air intake is called a "cold Air intake", it is lacking a houseing
like most CAI do. A houseing helps your CAI stay cooler giveing "cold air"
to your engine. But open Air intakes sound loulder and give you that mean
growl sound as they suck in air.
#4 Scoops
when you have a CAI with a houseing it has an opening to get air to the
filter.(stock 05 yukon air intakes have two ports on the side faceing the
frame)But "scoops" are aftermarket tubes that come out of the houseing
pointing away from the hot engine. giveing you even more cold air and HP
(the 2 pictures to the left)

Well hopfully this will help you decide what kind of CAI you want to get. Good luck!

I just got the same setup a month or so ago, and it's definitely louder. Not sure I'm liking that part of it! Might have to modify the case some and see about routing a scoop or something.

I bought the same intake. I like it. To me it sounds better than upgrading the exhaust. Tahoes with loud exhaust are tacky to me anyway. Mine has a nice deep sound to it. Worth the money.

That guy is running a scoop on a vehicle we dont make a scoop for and we still sent him a free filter, Dont mod our parts to make them fit your vehicle because that can happen

I've got the banks ram air system, a little pricey but I love it. Definitely improved the sound of my truck, but I wouldn't say it's any louder. When I'm driving down the interstate my intake temp stays within 5 degrees of the ambient (outside) temperature. They make a scoop that can be added I'm on the fence whether it will be worth it or not.

picked up a spectre CAI for my denali 05 from advance auto parts for about 115. easy install, cool sound. no mpg change at all. but throttle response is absolutely different. feels like a new suv. also downshifts easier. thanks for the info

Good thread. Looks like I'm never going to buy from Volant. As an engineering student, looking to specialize in automotive engineering, I fully understand what happened to that guy. Shame on Volant for trying to claim something that didn't happen, even in this thread. Guess I'll stick with my GM CAI.

I've seen your cold air intake at advance auto for like 120, I think I'll buy one soon. Can't hurt right. :)
