Hi all I'm new here.
I have an issue with my ac/heater. I have no airflow coming out of vents, only out of defrost. I replaced climate control module. 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Duel temp digital control. Rear fan works.

Sounds to me like you have a mode door actuator that has given up the ghost.

What did you replace the hvac module with? Used, new aftermarket? As others said, could be mode door, but I’ve seen some used control modules require programming.

Need details, please, on which specific HVAC module (mfr & model) you picked up for the replacement. Likely your original HVAC module is good, it sounds more like a actuator issue as @wjburken noted.

What technology (GM TDS/SPS?) are you using for programming, and I assume that it wasn't successful? ("tried programming")

Dorman from O'Reilly. I was also thinking door actuator also. Going to do a little bit more investigating. Will let you know. Thanks

I believe that the Dorman modules don't need any programming or calibration (firmware).

For my 02 Yukon, Only the "new" Dorman controllers don't need programming. The used ones need something done to work (programming), and since I didn't have a bidirectional tool, I had to get the more expensive new one. It's unfortunate there's so few choices of "new" controllers.

I just spent 2 weekends working on a 2005 Tahoe LT with the dual zones. That vehicle, similar to yours, has 4 electrical actuators in the dash that control temperature, recirculation and vents (floor, dash, defrost). Generally, the OBDII with a good quality scanner that will show live data will show you the status of each actuator, what is the value that is requested or "called" and what is the actual reading. On mine, the recirculation actuator was "out of zone" and had locked up - the scanner was giving me a B0229 code. That particularly one is a real problem to access.

I have always used GM parts for these actuators because it is too much work to go in and have to replace them later even if they are under warranty.

This is generally a mode door actuator problem. This is the one in the driver's footwell behind the center stack. I bi-directional scan tool will take the guess work out of this.

It is my understanding that your generation's AC Control Modules do not need programming.
