Thoughts on the best way to black out the roof rails that would be durable enough to still handle a rack?

Automotive quality paint with a quality prep job beforehandThoughts on the best way to black out the roof rails that would be durable enough to still handle a rack?
If everybody had the same taste the world would be pretty bland and everything would just look the same. I think chrome looks good on the right vehicle (ie classic cars that have real metal trim plated in chrome) but all this plastic fake chrome on new vehicles just looks cheesy. It's almost as bad as the fake wood they insist on putting in vehicles, I absolutely hate it. And as someone else stated, tastes change. I used to love black wheels when I was in my 20's but now in my 40's I think they look really boring and prefer pretty much any other color than black. Maybe when I get older I'll like chrome more, old guys seem to love chromeI don't understand this. I like chrome. It's shiny and it sparkles. I read one thread that offered a decent explanation about muting chrome on some interior surfaces. Something about distracting Sun reflections in mirrors. I can understand that as it could be a safety issue for some. But I don't understand all the exterior surfaces, especially when there seems to be so much cost and effort involved.
You buy a vehicle that costs tens of thousands of dollars, then cover a bunch of exterior surfaces and trim.

Do you know how they wrapped the rear piece that has the GMC emblem on it? I am having trouble getting it in the spaces between the letters

Looks great!Blacked out and roof wrapped.
You went all black-out pieces, but went dark chrome on the rear appliqué? I’d have to go all-or-nothing with black OR black chrome, or else my head would explode. lolJust have the roof rails left
I swapped out the rear chrome applique with the black chrome version you see on the RST. Not a huge fan but it'll do.
I should have gone all black but what's done is done. Kicking myselfYou went all black-out pieces, but went dark chrome on the rear appliqué? I’d have to go all-or-nothing with black OR black chrome, or else my head would explode. lol

Mine are covers. To those who have blacked out their door handle trim, how did you do it? My vinyl guy says because it's such a high wear area its not worth doing. Did you buy parts and have them painted or?
