if it was me, id ask the shop guy there to smoke test the evap, i see nothing theres leading me to a bad pcm. then follow the diag on the link there to check if the solenoid is working, if its not working id toss a new one in there with out a second thought, they fail all the time, this is not a special case by any means.

id also hit rock auto, buy all 4 o2 sensors, have them replace them all. you got two bad already, how far behind you think the other two are?

you have 2 upstream and 2 down stream o2 sensors. so 4 in all.

aka bank 1 sensor one, bank 1 sensor two and bank 2 sensor one and bank 2 sensor two. they get listed both ways like that.

Well, we cant really test the current EVAP vent valve because it is "burned out"

but yes, I already ordered
4 - 02 sensors,
Evap vent valve

here is an UPDATE.... I asked the automotive instructor if he can send me the details of exactly how he determined its the ECM.

He said - "We checked in ShopKey and found that power is supplied to the vent valve via a hot at all times fuse. The ground to the solenoid is provided by the PCM. Upon checking we found the power and ground present at the solenoid at all times. We unplugged the PCM and the ground signal went away. This tells me the PCM is either not the correct one and grounding that circuit for whatever purpose or the PCM is internally shorted. If the ground would have been coming from a shorted wire the short would still have been there with the PCM unplugged."

thoughts?

being you know its not the original pcm. id try to find the right one for your truck.

black bear seems to be the best route really. they have unlimited support tool if you get the flashing too they sell. autocal iirc?

I thought all circuits are hot, and its the PCM that is providing the ground, (just like he says it is). If he disconnects the PCM, then the solenoid, (or anything else controlled by the PCM will not get a ground). That this is not the common method, but it sounds like the PCM is doing what it is supposed to. (COULD DEFINITELY BE WRONG).

I had some tuning issues related to my stock ECM with Black bear. I bought an ECM from a 2002 Escalade on ebay for my 2000 Tahoe. Justin did all the necessary adjustments and I remember him asking if my truck was DBC/DBW..it's actually DBW. We've been tuning on that same PCM over 10 years and I pass emissions no problems, no check engine lights..

I use the Autocal with Black bear which makes things easier, but you can send them the PCM..you really just want a pcm for the same generation as your truck. I have a 0411 pcm which is a newer OS than the one my truck came with..
