Center Console KEY???

on my 02 i have the locking center console. however i bought the hoe used and never got the key for it. i called the dealer to see about getting the key and they told me id have to replace the entire console and of course the price was outrageous. has anyone got a replacement key made or replaced the lock on one of these before????

If I remember correctly, I went to the stealership and picked up a lock cylinder with the key for about 30 bucks. I put it in myself pretty simple.

Yeah I don't see why they would replace the whole console when they can just replace the lock.

oh yeah back to the lock, i looked at the lid of the console and couldnt see how to get the lock out... any instructions??

Have you tried a locksmith? I know the local guy here could cut a key for about $20.

The lock prolly has to be removed from the inside, If it could be removed from the outside that would defeat the purpose of the lock. Have the locksmith pick it then see if it can be removed or make u a key if it can't be removed.

tast, the console is unlocked. i want to get the key to lock it. with the lid up on it, i didnt see a way to get it out. ill take a better looksy tomorrow at work.

I will check this week. I gotta go order the plastic gauge lens for my eskerade gauges the damn theif broke while jackin my stuff. What sucks is they are retarted if you don't have a vin number to start the search with so I gotta hit up autotrader and copy down a vin from a escalade just so they have somewhere to start LOL.

on my 99 nbs i had to just replace the console bucket...with my gm discount i paid around 100 for it. I was ok to do it as the old part was cracked where someone tried to pry it open.
