Good day to you all, I'm new to the ownership of this sweet 2005 Denali. Picked up with 180,000 miles. But in mint condition apart from a few songs and nicks here and there. Super stoked for this new Denali as I grew up driving my dads 2002 Yukon xl. Gm made a excellent truck here.

Thanks all. I'm pretty busy lately but glad to find a forum of like minded folks here. My plans are as follows. Yes better wheels and tires. I have 3 different tired lol. Maby a lowered stance (not sure as I do go off paved roads occasionally but nothing major). Fluid changes. I changed to royal purple synethetic and I'm getting about 18-20 mpg on hw. The only flaw is my rear passenger window and lock will not work at all. All other three doors work well. Halo and led headlights and maby a re spray on areas damaged over time.

For the record, I am truck savy, restored a 1990 bronco in high school and recently sold it. But totally a noob with the new 2000+ year cars. From what I've worked on, the gm 1999-2006 have a huge after market. My goal is to stand out from the pack, but not in a insane way.

What would be the drawbacks of getting rid of the auto ride? my rear air bags look like they have tears in them, and the front end feels a tad more bumpy then my buddys yukon which has newer shocks and about the same year model. I have a set of Bilstine 5100 shocks off a previous project but their valved differently supposedly for a different truck. stem top and eyelet bottom. ID like to use them if possible and I'm not planing on doing any lift or lowering now. I don't haul a lot of weight if anything much heavy.

No drawbacks if you don't plan on hauling. It's another maintenance part, and very expensive one at that. When you go to sell it there's no difference with or without anymore so it really doesn't matter.
I'm going to take mine off but I'll keep it and install it back on when I sell it. Also I have helper bags in the rear so it's definately not a total loss for me. Sometimes I tow a small camping trailer but nothing overkill.

It's not a Big deal to swap the air ride out but you will need something to disable to service suspension light on your dic if you swap them out and I can't remember what it takes to disable that. There are many threads on here on how to do that. Personally I like mt air ride. I just replaced everything on the back end and did everything for less than $800. Got parts cheap on eBay and labor was like an hour and a half @ the shop where my buddy works.

How the heck are you getting 20mpg? coasting downhill?

I'm still trying to get around to all of my fluid changes. I suppose I can get 18mpg or so freeway only around 65mph.
