Well guys a little update, and a fork in the road all at the same time. I got the stuff back from paint. I can not get the bumper cover on there. As far as I can tell the shape, length, and bends are correct but it seems to be bottoming out on the bottom part of the chrome bumper. It seems like to me all it needs is some trimming on the bumper and the cover would slip right on there. Im stuck not knowing weather to continue this adventure or to cut my loss and just get my stock stuff painted. Would anyone even be interested in buying the ss bumper, and trying to take on this rest of this?

Im sure it is, but you did get the ss bumper for the yukon GMC version right? And if it was me, already bought it, painted it, and only a little trimming was all that was needed, id put it on. As you said, always on tahoes, but not on yukons, so i say do it, its different.

did you take the top pad off first then put it on. I thought i read somewhere on the net, that you had to take the bumper to just the chrome, not pads nothing. but im not sure on that.

b/s its cool looking http://www.sporttruckdirect.com/Pics/SSE/SSE_03_GMC_CK_Gen2_BC_Trk_70159_G.jpg

Yeah I took the bumper cap off and everything. Im just kind of iffy on cutting up the only bumper I have.

That link you posted is actually an 03-06 sierra front end, our trucks have the same front end as the 99-02 sierra's. But either way im gonna sit on it and think for a few days.

yeah i was thinking that after i posted it, looked again and thought its a sierra, but for pic ref. i think you should, but i dont think you should have to cut your bumper up to have it fit. Have you come across anyone else that has done it? maybe they can tell you what they did. I still say make it fit somehow. Try putting it on all diff. ways first before cutting, i.e. putting on top first, then pulling down, or down, then pulling up, or sides. etc..

or drive down here and i'll make it work. lol

That might be more of a drive than willing to make at this time.lol

I tried putting it all every way I could think of. Side to side, top to bottom, I even took the bumper completely off and tried squeezing it on while it was on the the ground. There is no way around it im gonna have to cut the bumper.

Do you have any pictures of where it's hitting (with the bumper cover on)? You might be able to trim the bumper coving instead of your actual bumper.

There would be no way to trim the cover where its hitting. Its hitting where the groves are for the holes in the bumper. There is nothing there to trim. I wish I would have taken a picture of it on there when I had the chance maybe I can snap one tomorrow.

What brand is that? Street Scene isn't showing a SS bumper for a yukon or even a sierra for 99-02. There's one for a 03+ sierra but it's like the one Tahoewhat posted (the middle part is different than yours). You are suppose to leave the top bumper cap on by the way.

Have you emailed the guy you bought it from? Did it come with any directions? That's odd that he is advertising it for the Yukon but if you have to do some major cutting then that is a little misleading if you ask me.

These are the pics I could get. After looking at it again I dont think trimming would even do the trick. The gap it needs to go back on each side is to big even if I trim the bumper.

I wonder if you could file a claim with paypal since the ad does say it will fit your truck just by taking the lower valance off.

Sounds like you did everything i would of done. I probly would of taken the bumper off as well.

This is what i was thinking next, hopefully he will email back with some sort of directions, news something.

Do you know of a good bodyshop? Or where you got it painted at. You could try to talk to one and see what they say. Im kind of lost on this one.

Yeah that's not even close. The only bumper I can see that fitting is the 99-02 Silverado HD.
