Looking to see if its possible to mate a 6 or 8 speed transmission to our 5.7L engines. If so which ones that anyone know of that has heen doneb& what would be required & who sells kits that would facilitate this swap. Thank-you.

TCI makes a 6 speed 4L80E package that you could swap, but you’d have to do the typical 4L80E swap for our trucks. I thought they made a 4L60E version, too, but can’t seem to find it!

To answer the rest of your question, yes, just takes money. The newer 6 or 8 speed transmissions will more than likely need some flexplate adapting, custom bell housing, stand-alone TCM, driveshaft mods, etc, to be mated to these 5.7 Vortecs. At that price point, it would be better to drop in an LS motor that’s mated to a 6 or 8 speed trans.
