Caddy caught fire

Looks pretty decent. All of that debris is chunks of plastic that fell inside while I was bashing the intake manifold with a claw hammer.

You're a braver man, than I. If it's me, that engine gets a full rebuild. I'd be tearing down to the bare block and sending it off to the machine shop and building it from the ground up after everything that motor has been through but that's just me.

I'm optimistic about it. It looks like most of the fire was on the upper RH side. Most of the heat is above the flame and if the flame is on the motor, more accurately- on whatever is burning that's on the motor, then the motor would've been exposed to the lowest of the temps and likely still in the "safe zone". My only doubt, although small, is that the block was exposed to high heat then suddenly cooled when sprayed with water. If it were mine, I'd probably just clean it up, replace everything external that isn't metal, replace the driven accessories and let 'er rip.

I plan on new bearings and seals, probably a cheap eBay intake or an ls3 intake. New non vvt cam, E85, stand alone possibly, Chinese turbo.
Keeping the awd components and maybe put it all in a single cab Silverado eventually

First, glad that no one was injured in any way.

Second, maybe I'm crazy, since it seems I might be the only one who wants no parts of a vehicle that suddenly burst into flames with no obvious/apparent cause. The last thing I'd be thinking is to pull the engine and rebuild/reuse it. To the contrary, I'd be throwing holy water at it to exorcize its demons and then walking away from it.

That's a different project. 95 dodge ram that I've had for years is getting a full roll cage and custom dash.

Did you ever find the cause of the fire? I have a 6.2 and definitely don't want to experience the horror you went through. I'm glad everyone is safe, so sad to see a nice Escalade all burned up though.
