the cv joint is what allows you to have 4wd in an independent front suspension. A whole assembly will probably go $90 for shaft, joint boots and all. You can also tear down that joint after being removed from vehicle, clean it repack with grease and install a new boot. Not sure which way you want to go. I would just get a new shaft it would be easier and quicker. One thing is for sure if you remove that joint from the wheel assembly DO NOT put any wait on the wheel assembly until the axle is back in and torqued on the hub assembly.

Also make sure nothing nearby like cotter pins are loose and handing.
