"Dealers are at least partially complicit because they have been repairing this crap and knew it was a problem".

Dealers know problems when GM tells them there is a problem. No dealer is digging down and coming up with the problem and what to do to fix it. Not in this case. They know it is a problem when they see car counts for the same problem but thinking ahead as to why, would only be guesswork till GM tells them and they toe the "company line".
In the last year we have repaired maybe (3) 6.2 engines so it's not a major problem at my dealership now your big cities that sell a crapload of trucks then its gonna be a problem for them.

Why would the dealership or even GM give a dern about a customer trying to keep his engine to last longer. Do some reasearch and look at what an engine looks like on the inside that has used Lucas Oil treatment. I have seen it on super high mileage engines and its astonishing how clean and golden looking they are. It reminds of the old days when everyone used slick-50.

I'm not debating whether the Lucas treatment works or not.... I have used some Lucas products with miraculous results. I just don't believe it should be the go-to on a modern engine from the get-go.... and don't get me started on why dealership or GM would give a darn about the customer doing the right thing to make the engine last longer ? That is a big gray area.... unless I see an official document from GM that says it is ok to use Lucas oil stabilizer I would not trust that they will stand behind it.

Prior to this recall, if anyone used 0W-40 on their 6.2L engine because they thought it would make their engine last longer, I'm sure your dealership or GM wouldn't have honored any warranty claims. Now there is official documentation from GM showing the 0W-40 offers an "enhanced further level of protection" so its OK now....

With all due respect, I'm not going to take your guarantee.. yes you are technically correct that Lucas oil treatment is more than likely good, but it is not officially OK per GM so its a big gray area... Having said all this.. I wouldn't be opposed to using it if your dealership is the one that sold that treatment and poured it in as part of the oil service. If anything happens, you can be blamed.

Many do not realize how difficult it is for any dealer or even GM to prove that anyone
used a non-Dexos motor oil, or used 0W30 instead of 0W20.
Some - not all - of those motor oil additives are easier to detect than others.
Yes agreed... if the customer kept his/her mouth shut it would be difficult to prove. But apparently many of @BADRIDES customers have told that they used the Lucas product.

Give me a call on your next service and I will pour it in personally and the Lucas Oil Treatment appears on your service ticket so we arent hiding it from anyone. Like I said earlier why would GM give a dern if you are trying to prolong their product

GM only gives a "dern" during a warranty period. After that, they don't give a damn! Just like so many, almost all, insurance companies of any kind, they are always looking for a reason where something that is supposed to be covered will not be covered because of "not following" GM guidelines, to the letter!

Not sure what you mean by this.
60,000 is pretty low mileage for a used Tahoe or Silverado in good condition
A good quality oil doesn’t need additives. In fact, additional treatments will likely throw off the tribology/additive pack in the good oil.
