I can see the situation where the motor dies at highway speed and the person behind you is not expecting a sudden drop in speed, all it takes is a few seconds. Even observant drivers will check the mirrors etc and have a couple seconds of distraction not expecting the vehicle in front to drop off speed without brake lights coming on.

Vlad's top concern was voiding GM warranty...

Something doesn't feel right about the fact that GM may void my warranty over the use of 5W-30 on my 5.3L.... it sounds like planned obsolescence....

I see grounds for some legal action to get GM's buy-in on 5W-30 or 0W-40 allowance across the board on 5.3L and 6.2L, following this recall.

This stuff is going down in front of us and don't feel good about sitting and doing nothing.

Obviously that oil dripping out of the filter is not normal. Do you have any way of getting a sample analyzed?

True that...but what is the oil spec design of the DFM stuff they bolted on? That is where the rubber meets the road a bit and maybe where the conflict..perhaps the DFM is what requires the 0W on the cold side? But, I truly agree...something is awry...and it is bugging me it is taking GM so long to make decisions on the 000 recall and associated instructions to the dealers and public...that document is conspicuously absent from public view right now.

Hello everyone, a week ago I talked about my 6.2 engine with a mileage of 75,000 miles. On which we cut the filter every maintenance and there were no chips, no metal, no wear products in it. And yesterday my engine stopped. The oil was fresh, the mileage was about 1000 miles. Driving was on the highway at 95 mph, the oil pressure was high. So it was a highway, then there could be no fuel in the oil. The engine lost momentum and the car shut down completely at 95 mph, I stopped on the side of the road. I took out the oil dipstick, the level was full, but the dipstick was so hot that I immediately got a burn through the napkin. I think the oil was 200 degrees C. In general, I will tell you everything in a separate entry when we open the engine. And now our masters are confused, because this has never happened before, my case greatly violates many existing hypotheses. And about the connecting rod liners too, if they were to blame, there would have been chips earlier, and they were not there 1000 miles ago. Everything happened so quickly, without a rumble.

The engine temperature sensor will replace the coolant temperature, not the oil

Behind me was my friend, who, like me, was riding with a trailer with a jet ski. So everything is fine

Sorry man that you had to go through this, yes please keep us posted on what you find. Did your vehicle set the P0016 code ?

No, there was no P00016 error moreover, my case is unusual in that often the chips allow you to drive another 5-7 thousand km

Wow @Vladimir2306, that is really bad. So sorry this happened to you. Looks like the inside of the oil filter is cooked, or is that metal sludge? Perhaps these rod liner's (bearings) fail catastrophically and very fast? That is the only part of your story consistent with the rest -- all is well until it is not well, then BOOM...no warning. Which, I believe, is the most dangerous part of this situation, as the user has no way to know if/when their engine may fail and they lose propulsion...

This is metal shavings and dust from the insides of the engine, which will soon be clear there, the engine is already being disassembled

@Vladimir2306, with no GM support over there, what do you think your options are? Think you'll order an engine, or dump the truck, or what?

We'll see what's inside, there are two options, a new engine or a repair of mine. I hope it will be just a repair
