Break replacement?

Hey y'all,
Thanks in advance for tolerating more dumb newbie questions.

On my 2013 Tahoe, pretty sure it is an SSV not a PPV model.
Suddenly I hear the need to replace break pads, at least on front.

How can I determine which pads to get? Different sizes on various builds?

I think there might be a different technique in replacing pads with ABS breaks to prevent messing up the system?

Popular opinion 'round here seems to be ACDelco or Pro Stop. I am going the Pro Stop route on my front rotors and pads to see if I like them. Will be doing that before my inspection is due in October.
