Brake upgrade

hello guys im about to buy some 26in rims for my 01 4wd yukon but before i put them on i want to upgrade my brakes. probably some drilled and slotted rotors? can anyone point me in the right direction? what brand are you guys using whats a good brand? anyones advice is appreciated thanks

Here are a few places members purchase brakes. I believe we also have a Vendor on here that sales braking systems. Can't remember the name off the top off my head, but just search around for them.
Also, go with just slotted.

I`ve heard to stay away from drilled because they can crack around the holes.

I don`t have first hand experience with them but i think it`s the cheaper stuff that cracks. I went with slotted ones just to be sure.

I have EBC slotted rotors and hawk pads and couldn`t be happier with them.

I did the 07+ brake upgrade in the front and ran slotted and cross drilled all around. I don't have any issues with cracking of the rotors and stopping with the 26s. it's been said slotted rotor will give you more surface contact then a slotted/drilled rotor but brake motive did some testing and found a drilled rotor will actually perform better and keep the brakes cooler during stopping then a slotted or a normal rotor.

I got the rotors and pads from brake motive, they are a sponsor on the camaro forum and I am actually running a set of slotted rotors on my camaro as well.

+1 on the 07+ front brake upgrade. thats in my list of near future upgrades. Bigger and cheaper.

I also have 26s and stopping is.....not very good.

I have R1 concepts cross drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads, drilled can crack if you go with a low quality brand get a descent set and you should be fine, this is my 4th vehicle with these rotors and I've never ha a problem

I put them on in October and have been running them since with no issues. Put the 26's on in late April and still haven't warped, cracked or had alot of brake dust from there pads. Not a bad price for $180 for the set with pads.

Do you need new calipers for the 07+ upgrade, or is it just bigger rotors? And do you know what size rims they will require as a minimum? Wanna know if I can still use my stock 16's with them

Yes you need the calipers & brackets to run the bigger rotors and I think the new min wheel size is 17's but don't hold me to that!

I got semi loaded calipers with brackets & hardware but without pads from advanced auto parts for like $49.99 during there brake sale.

Yes, the 07+ upgrade is better for the large 26" rims. With this upgrade you will need at least a 17" rim, you will not have clearance of the caliper without it.

IF your truck doesn't already have it, (which it probably will not if you have rear drum brakes) then you would be better off with stock sized drilled and slotted rotors, ceramic pads and a hydroboost upgrade to finish things off; the overall difference in braking would surprise you. If you already have hydroboost then making sure to fully flush the brake and power steering fluid when you install the new parts will also make a world of difference.

As for the drilled rotors causing cracking, I have personally run the cross drilled and slotted rotors on several trucks, including those like my 03 Duramax that I haul extremely heavy loads with and never had an issue. I have always recommended them because of my personal experience with them. I have also been selling the R1Concepts brke parts for several years and never had one complaint from any of my customers as far as parts quality or performance overall.

What is the difference between the limited slip axle and exc limited slip axle?
What would I choose for my 4wd yukon 01

One limited slip axle is simple limited slip where one wheel will turn for about rehe revolutions and then switch to the other and back and forth. The other is a locker style where both wheels lock up and turn at the same time. However, even though their catalog shows this as an option when looking up your vehicle, the part numbers for the rear rotors are the same regardless so it doesn't matter which option you choose.

I went with front and rear R1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads on my 02 yukon back in March of this year. Right now I have about 5000+ miles on them. I love them, no problems at all.

Just ordered some +07 drilled and slotted rotors for the front and back from r1 concepts.
My rims should be here this weekend. 26in U2-55s with 305/30/26 tires.
Now have to look for some calipers
Will post pics when all said and done

As for the calipers, you can either go ahead and get stock replacements from your local NAPA or Carquest, they will have a core charge that is probably more than the cost of the calipers themselves. That is why I don't try to promote them from R1, mainly because after the cost of shipping the cores back to them they aren't as cost effective.

but really having trouble finding some calipers for these rotors.
they seem to be expensive as hell
