Body damage question

Noticed this on the new-to-me today, no clue what its from. Honestly looks like a tool accident or two .22 rounds. Thoughts? I'm less interested about appearance, more interested about preventing rust. What can I do other than replace the door?

Both indent far enough to have damaged the body.

Brush with auto paint and clear or what? Any filler options?

get touch up from dealership. Comes in small bottle with brush. Shake well and brush over damaged area. Apply several coats. Of course will need 2 bottles since different colors. don't worry about filling in since multiple layers of paint will improve look slightly

Brush touch the body. the glass channel is aluminum, so no worries about rust there. Glass channel can be tricky to replace, but it would be a quick fix. Otherwise the door has to be painted and its hard to just spot that color - most shops would want to blend the other panel next to it.

Was quoted via pictures at $560 to fix both the full, right way. Sounds right to me. Not looking to pay that much.

Found 2 more spots on the truck that are scratched to the metal. One on the lift gate under the window handle, and the other along the inside of the driver side door. They are fine, I honestly don't care at all (why I went silver, LT, 4WD, Z71, to get away from my onyx black dust trap). I just don't want to have to deal with rust in the future.

I will be going to the dealer next week, so I'll talk to them about it then and get opinions and estimates. Best case scenario they sell me some paint, say do this this and this, and I call it a day under $100.

Another option, I found https://www.paintscratch.com and they seem to offer products for exactly what I'm looking for at a price that I am happy with. Anyone have experience with them?

I'll post pictures tomorrow of the other 2 spots, and probably look for more.

Got a quote from Caliber Collision, $540 total. I'd rather fix it myself for 40 and get a BB tune for that 500. That's just nuts. The more I rub my finger through it the more I realize I'd be perfectly happy with just covering it and protecting it, its not a crazy ugly gash.

Edit: Went ahead and got some supplies from that site for $40. I didn't think of the rust possible already there though. Was thinking a spray with a rust converter would do the trick, but its a small site. Will rust converters damage existing paint?

I think you're overthinking this. Lol. First you said you're not worried about appearance, just rust prevention, but then you're calling body shops getting expensive quotes on full repairs. If you're really only interested in rust prevention, which it doesn't appear to have started with any yet, do what others have said and use some touch-up paint on the colored surface and don't worry about the aluminum channel trim. It will not rust. Although, it would look much better with a dab of black paint over it.

If you're worried about appearance, have it repaired correctly.

The estimates were simply for a ball park. If it were plenty cheap, then I'd get it done fully. But yeah, I'm totally happy with a tiny little knick, as long as it doesn't rust. That's all. Right now the plan is to do some rust converter just in case, prime, then paint. The primer is black, so I will put that on the aluminum as well and see how it looks. Otherwise I have some other black paints that I can play with until one looks alright.
