Just to adding a plus 1 to BBP. Fully customized to YOUR vehicle. FREE re-tunes. It does not void your warranty and if your relay worried swap in your stock CPU if you kept it. Sure you cant change something on the fly (I heard they are trying to get one that you can...maybe, might be a rumor) but its already optimized to your vehicle so you dont have to change anything

And if I recall correctly Justin saves all your info on his servers.

Some points to note:

1. Any company offering custom fuel trims outside of the Carb or EPA specified ranges will red flag a vehicle at the dealership ad GM is more than happy to void the vehicles warranty. With Superchips, you can program your truck back to stock at your leisure, without leaving a trace in the ECU... Warranty saved...

2. The difference between companies such as Black Bear and Superchips is that with Superchips you are in control of your tuning options as you previously stated. With a Superchips hand held programmer you can adjust tuning levels and additional options at the push of a button, at your leisure, without the need for removal of your PCM to be send out every time you need a tweak to your settings or contacting someone else to upload settings to you.

3. Superchips is one of the few tuning companies that offers 100% carb approved programs and that's a big deal those who still have a warranty.

4. Superchips is also as easy to remove as it is to install. And it leaves no trace of programming in the PCM for the Dealership stiffs to find.

5. What happens when your Black Bear tuned vehicle has a problem requiring you to get service at the dealership? Most dealers these days either won't work on the vehicle because t is modified or they take you to the cleaners by voiding your powertrain warranty because you are using a non OEM flash that is not emissions legal.

Before you go and bash me, keep in mind, I am a fan of BB, not an enemy, I just feel like when you post you should keep in mind what everyone's end goal is...

BB tunes are awesome, and there is no way that many people can be wrong, but a lot of newbies are a little gun shy, or they are looking for some flexibility between towing, economy and performance.

Superchips offers a viable alternative to BB and each have their positives and negatives.

When users of this forum post questions we are supposed to relay our OPINIONS and EXPERIENCES so they can come to the conclusion that best fits THEIR needs... I know BB is a sponsor and have worked great for everyone that has one, but for me, and maybe FELSKEE, a handheld tuner would be the best option. Again it is up to him (her) to decide...

I am in no means bashing you, so if it came across that way, I apologize. I will admit that I was not impressed with the fact that you quoted statements in our mouths that are not true and have never been said.

I also will point out that your points 1-5 are the same, and all dealer oriented (how many times to you go in for warranty work?). I understand that some folks like to have a handheld in their possession to see what is being sent to the ECM and I am totally fine with that. I

I will also ask how long it takes to upload a SC tune, as it only takes me 2 mins to swap my modules out. Honestly, I just tell the dealer to not touch my ECM/TCM and they are fine with that, most dealers have no idea what a tune is. As a matter of fact, we have quite a few customers that work at dealerships stating that the worse thing that would happen to a tuned vehicle coming in, would be a flash over the tune.

I agree with you, to each their own on tunes, however, you need to make sure that you aren't putting statements in someone elses lane that is untrue. If you look at all our posts, we have never once bashed a handheld of any brand, we just state the differences and the facts.

I took my Tahoe in on various occasions for warranty and service work and not once was it questioned or brought up and never had an issue with my Blackbear tune being flashed. 98% of techs can't tell what a tune looks like. I had a Superchips on a previous ride and it was a cookiecutter tune. It didn't fully sit with what I wanted and what I had on my truck. There is no comparison between the two.. I don't think there is a one customer that is not happy with their BB tune and I can tell you of at least a dozen people I know who have gone with handheld tuners and they all have negative experiences with them..

Blackbear, the only thing hand held tuners are good for is pulling DTCs

hey VJR, I however will take the opportunity to make an INCREDIBLE OFFER!!!! LIMITED TIME ONLY!!!! Instead of spending the $300+ on a handheld tuner, you pay me $150 and get me a liter of Jack Daniels, I'll pee in the gas tank of your truck and get you an equivalent horsepower and torque boost. I'm not saying BB is perfect for everyone either, but it's also not right to lead a noob into wasting money either. You pay less for BB tune and get ALOT more out of it.

What's interesting is that this Blackbear tuning question is posed in the forums for us OBS owners, 99 and earlier.

VJR....what "warranty" would any of us have to worry about voiding out?

Perhaps your pro-dealer and "oh no, it's not CARB compliant!" rhetoric would be best saved for the 2007+ owners or some liberal hippy vehicle forum like the Prius owners relish.
