I just sold my '07 Escalade to get an '07 Z71 4x4 Tahoe and want to get back to the HID's I had on the Escalade. What are the best options for real HID's out there? Don't like the fake blue bulb look.

Also where is the best place online to buy the bow tie replacements? Want to go all brushed aluminum look on the Tahoe since that is the overriding theme. Thanks guys/gals. Hope I can be of help in the future -Seel

Most people on here have the DDM HID kits. They are the best option for the price. I have them in 2 vehicles. www.ddmtuning.com. Make sure you get the wire harness and relay when you buy the ballasts and buls. As far as the bow ties go, eBay is your best bet.
If you check the vendor section in the forum you will see a lot of reputable vendors.

I have 4 sets of DDM's in my tahoe and have been happy with them.(Hi, Low, Fog, Reverse) If your looking for the stock Escalade color, then 4500K will be the closet match. I have the 6000K and they have a hint of blue color.

i have 3 sets and am as happy as can be! haha
2 on truck - low, fog
1 on motorcycle

about to order 3 more sets and 3 sets of Hella 500's and install those!

4300 is factory, but it will look different as the tahoe wont have projectors.
55 watt is brighter and will wash out the color
35 watt is sufficient

im running 35 watt 5000k and i think it looks great
35 watt 6000k in bike

DDM Tuning or HID Gate on eBay....I have a set of each installed on my '07 and have zero complaints. A friend ordered some HID Gate fogs and had one of the bulbs go out within a month or so but they sent him a replacement free and fast! Both would be a safe bet and the best price...

i...about to order 3 more sets and 3 sets of Hella 500's and install those!....
Where are you planning on mounting the Hellas? I gotta see this!!!!!

I've been contemplating building a rotating/fold down light bar to mount on my roof rack....

i just installed a thule cargo rack and have a westin brush guard. 2 on the guard and 4 on the cargo rack, 2 front and 2 rear. i have 5000k 35 watt in headlights, and was thinking for the hellas, 55 watt 4300k! and turn all those jokers on! haha its going to be bright! and sure as hell beats buying the "HID" hellas! they run about $700 a pair, when i can do all 6 for $500!

just have to figure where to run the cargo rack wiring!

SW CT,
I do not use the kits mentioned and will tell you if you pm me, they are not a supporting vendor of the site, but it is all I use for my clients.

Went to the DDM website and didn't really know what I needed to build a complete set. Any help would be appreciated here. Thanks for all the responses.

yeah im sure thats the right harness, the website has changed and for me i had to do a search for the harness and add it to the cart, but its the same price and i dont see why they would give you the wrong harness, so go with that. and you dont need the error eliminator.

DDM is not very helpful when it comes to trucks. They specialize more in German imports. All you need is 35 or 55 watt ballasts and H11 bulbs for lows and 5202 for the fogs and a wire harness. You do not need an error eliminator. That is for German cars. Here are the links for everything you need:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/viewCart.php

Not sure if that link will work, but here is a copy and paste of the cart:

Description Price Qty Total

DDM HID Kit, 35W, H16, 5000K

$50.00

LOW BEAM:
DDM HID Kit, 35W, H11, 5000K
Bulb Color: 5000K
Bulb Type: H11
Wattage: 35 Watt
$40.00

Total:
$105.00+shipping

Wouldn't you need a wiring harness for every pair of HIDs you get? The harness says 2 in 2 out, but i assumed that meant for 2 bulbs.

Has anyone gone with a 55W kit in the HI Beams? may be overkill, but when i have my brights on in the back highways of NE and CO, I want to see as much as i can.

You only need 1 harness. A wire harness is not required for fogs or hi beams. The only reason you need a wire harness for the low beams is because of the auto-on and DRL feature. (DRL for Yukons)

Its only a matter of time. Mine worked without a harness for a month or so, and the intermittently would start to flicker on start up.

I just tried installing these on my 07 Yukon last night, hoping you guys can help me out.

When using the harness, do I want to tap both the harness and the wiring unit to the battery, or just the harness?

I just ordered mine, just like that listed above, but i got 35W 6000K Lows and 35W 5000K Fogs. I like the blue tint on the headlights, and dont really like yellow on fogs. maybe i'll do the Hi's down the road at 55W 6000K? Cant wait!
