I have the 60/40 split backseat and one side won't fold down. It's like the strap that you pull to unlatch it got disconnected. I can't get the seat out because the bolts to do so are under the part that won't fold up. Any advice?

It is more than likely the strap, it is common for the cable to snap. Grab some pliers and start searching under the seat.

Once you get it to fold down, you can remove the bar that latches the seat down or cover the latch.

Oooorrrr you can try looking for a replacement cable but from what I've seen, they're hard to come by.

I cant get behind the seat from either angle. There is a piece of metal that blocks me from reaching the latch on the back of the seat.

they bottom of the seat should be a light carpet cover perhaps at last resort you may just want to slit it open and sew it back up later?

This has no bearing on your issue, but I thought someone might enjoy laughing at me....

I couldn't get my rear seat to fold down a couple days ago. I tried for a couple minutes and finally gave up out of frustration. When I got back out, I saw that I had the center seat belt buckled down to keep it from flopping around...boy did I feel like an idiot.

The same thing did happen to me years ago. But the shop fixed it and I don't know how they did it.

I recall something about they said the strap came off from the end of the cable. They may have used needle nose pliers to pick at and grab the cable from the top.

I do know that when I got it back, they said to be very gentile with the strap to prevent that from happening again. Fat chance of being gentile with two 11yr old boys!

Sunlitcomet:
Do you have any diagrams of the latch on the 2 seated side of the split seats. It seems to be different from the other seat.

Thanks, I can reach the latch i just cant figure out how to pop it from reaching down. This is killing me. The dealer quoted 300 in labor but that seems outrageous.

One quick question. You think I could cut into the sheath? And pull on that wire?
