I noticed the GM credit card is running a 30K points promotion (roughly worth $300, since each point is about 1 cent).

I’m considering putting part of my Tahoe down payment on the GM card and paying the rest by check, so I can earn the bonus points. My thought is that I could later use those points for accessories or other GM purchases.

Has anyone here done this before? Is it worth it, or do dealerships usually limit how much of the down payment you can put on a credit card?

I’d call the dealership and ask about their CC policy. What do they charge to use the CC and max

When I bought my Yukon I put down 5k. They initially said they could only do $2500 on credit card. Then they allowed all 5k on the card.

Also 1%? Would it be feasible to just get the visa active cash card. That one’s 2% across all purchases.

10x points when you use GM card for GM related purchases, that alone makes it better than 2% credit card. I can probably just use GM card just for oil changes and services

Many new car dealers in my area are now charging a 3% surcharge for any credit card use at the dealership.
