I'm thinking that next year I might install a dash cam in my Tahoe. There are so many yahoos on the road that it might be a stress reliever for me to start posting videos on YouTube of some of the morons in Lubbock that should not have a license to drive . . . or even be allowed outside their home. :insane:

the coolest thing I have seen yet was a FJ that had a FLIR thermal camera dash mounted with a screen that flipped up. The guy that owned the car installed it for night driving though the mountains after have 3 close calls with moose (very hard to see at night , eyes don't reflect light so you usually don't see till close I guess) ive always wanted a thermal camera after that ha, but a cheapest model new runs around 2500 without the monitor , wiring , or anything.

The only camera that has caught my fancy so far is the ChaseCam HD DIVA ( http://www.chasecam.com/node/201 ), but I'm not reading much that's good about it in low light conditions or hot days.

Wonder why some of the companies that make systems for the police don't offer something to the general public that is simple to operate?

Dash cams seem to either be low-priced or two grand plus, with not much in between.

I never knew something like that was available for the general public -- http://www.flir.com/cvs/americas/en/transportation/products/pathfindir/

I am subscribing to this thread. I am interested to see what options are available, and what others have to say about them. I know exactly what you mean Steven when you talk about moron drivers! :biggun:

I've started diddling around with wanting to install a dash cam again, and I'm still going nowhere fast. I like the ChaseCam, but I'm very unimpressed with the lack of response on most topics when someone makes a post on the ChaseCam forum ( http://www.chasecam.com/forum/ ). You'd think the business would use their own forum to help drum up sales. Instead, their forum scares me away from their own products.

Any police officers have any experience with what might be an excellent product for general public use? I am dumbfounded at the way people are driving nowadays -- much worse than even five years ago -- and I see a dash cam as something that could be a very good item to have in today's society.

Those FLIR cameras are so awesome! I wish they weren't so damn expensive.
