thats a nice lookin xtreme. whats the MPG on thoses things?

About 20 hwy...I was pretty disappointed in that cuz I'd traded my 02 Sierra for it in order to get better mpg and it was a neglible difference. Smaller vehicle doesn't always equal noticeable increase in mpg :)

the main problem with the s-series trucks and efficiency is the power to weight ratio....way heavy and under powered

the 4.3 is not so much under powered as the 2.2 (obviously) but the weight on them, especially blazers and x-cab, is stupid heavy

Yeah....my Xtreme had a 4.3 but it was heavy and not geared properly to get decent mpg...if I woulda had it longer it would have done quite a bit more with it but I just wanted more room if i was going to get low mpg...

the sonoma should hover around the 25-30MPG range with the 2.2 and 5sp.

the 4.3's are known for HORRIBLE gas milage. 2.2 is quite a bit better, but your not going to win any races. haha

 as a kid my dad had an 85 s-15 with the 2.5 and 5 speed in it. Not fast, of course, but could tow fairly decent for what it was. Pretty torquey little motor. 10 times better than that pile of crap 2.8 I had in my 93 :whymewhyme:

sold this when I bought the tahoe. 1987, 4/5 drop, 17x8 KMC somethings, lots of motor work, built tranny, 3.73s, midnight grey metalic paint.

I do miss it, I really should have kept it. It was rather fast too. Worked 2.8 v6 could take a 350 with bolt ons. Most of teh guys in the club I was in thought it was a quiet 350 under there. Boy were they upset when they found out it was one set above a 4 banger. Had a nice loud stereo I miss too. In teh cab had 2 12" polk DB subs, it almost hurt to turn up loud.

Big trucks with big motors are just a little more fun though, that thing in the north east was sitting for a few months a year because of snow.

My 93 had the 2.8 but bone stock :whymewhyme: mine was painted nice with chrome rims, alpine head unit, Polk audio component set in custom doors, Rockford fosgate 10" sub behind the seat, fiberglass touneau cover,.... I shoulda kept that truck and kept building it but the fullsize chevy bug bit me :)
