Killing time wandering through a Ford dealership this weekend and came upon a new Bronco.
The sticker list price was $91,325, and it was sold! Add to that $5,700 sales tax.
For a Bronco? It makes me think of the Wrangler we had that was in the high $20ks new and that was pushing it for the little toy.
Wow.

That could be called “Sticker Shock”, but unfortunately the cost of a new truck is way too expensive for most people.

When I was shopping for new vehicle for my wife she really liked the looks of the new Bronco and we checked them out.

Out of all the model lines the Bronco has to have the most options. The base model to the high end model doesn’t even look like the same truck. I saw sticker prices from the $50k to $95k depending on the model.

After researching the new Bronco history we decided to keep the 2003 Honda Element she is driving now. The Element has more reliable engine and more room.
Also if you think the latest GM debacle with the 6.2l engine is bad google the problems with the Bronco!
They didn’t have to initiate recall as most of those Broncos ended up back at the dealer lol!

To illustrate, I thought if a person leased, they could get anything they wanted. The Tahoe we ordered, per the website, would be $1854/mo. for 36 mos, to lease, setting it to $0 down and 15k miles per year. Not to start a flame war but I cannot imagine spending that much to drive a car.....cars are super expensive and we're getting a 2025 not really by our choice our old car is gone/loss

It was probably a Raptor Bronco.
it was no-doubtedly the raptor bronco. Raptors are like the amg’s of ford so, yeah. Price is to be expected.

Base model is probably like 38k or so, and on either trim you probably don’t have to worry about lifters or bearing clearances. . .

And yea, unfortunately the days of gas for 25 cents a gallon and coming out the store with a cart fulla groceries for 50 bucks are long gone.

An Element would exactly fill our needs; low floor cargo vehicle. Unfortunately they stopped making them before we noticed them.

We looked at Transits but they are just empty tin cans.

Raptor Bronco; I wonder if insurance companies know about high powered roller skates.

Unfortunately Honda blew it by discontinuing the Element. The main limiting factor is only 4 seats but the cargo space and headroom is awesome. At 6’2” I have plenty of head and leg room and visibility is very good. The interior is very sports and cargo friendly with as much room as most mini vans and the lack of carpet is the best for water sports equipment to hauling horse tack, hay and feed. The original equipment alloy wheels are excellent and the Michelin tires for them provide excellent ride. Fuel economy is not the best but mid 20 mpg with regular fuel and the bullet proof engine is nice.

Handling is decent and with basic maintenance that motor and tranny will get 200k miles plus.
We have just under 200k and the only parts we replaced were suspension struts, motor mounts and tires.

Nothing out there with the cargo space and reliability of the Honda Element in the smaller SUV segment.

Normal people would likely agree with you, it's one of THE most underrated / underappreciated vehicles in existence.
Honda corporate likely thought of it as a more expensive-to-build CR-V, what with that roof & side doors that became the B-pillar when closed.

The only possible way to improve on the Honda Element's interior, would be to make it bigger.
If the Honda Passport / Pilot's interior was as versatile, hardy, and clever as the Element's, the Tahoe & the Expedition would be in very real danger.

Remember when, you couldn't afford a car so you bought a pick-up, and if you couldn't afford a pick-up you bought a utility vehicle.

I have a 2014 transit connect titanium that I bought used like eight years ago. It's leather and has ceiling. No real issues to complain about other than a few electrical gremlins from the wires in the door hinge areas. Amazing that it doesn't have rust considering it's been in either Michigan or Ohio since new.

I just made the somewhat difficult switch to a Toyota after getting disappointed with the new Tahoe & Yukon. GM is easily putting a sticker price of 100k+, and I absolutely hate the new massive touchscreen and no more buttons for the interior. The exterior is soft lines, plain and ugly IMO. At that price point I decided might as well get a Toyota for reliability and value. Ended up getting a nice Sequoia TRD Pro for 80k. Has everything I need and more, still has buttons, and get this… an actual GEAR SHIFTER.

Still have my 96 2 door K1500 Yukon to scratch that itch tho. Just picked up an 84 square body K20 too.

That Bronco is truly awesome truck!
It’s also a great example of the top of the model line differences.
Between the Raptor and the base model there are maybe 5-6 trim levels and the base model doesn’t even look like the same truck.

Ford does a great job with the Raptor interior and exterior.
