I just got a new headunit and was looking at this one. I opted not to get it because of the special trim you have to get around the whole dash kit. It replaces the woodgrain around the whole dash to an unpainted black one that's extremely dull looking... so yea def consider that before you make your purchase. Unless of course you know how to hydro-dip like NathanJax... then you'd be golden.

Looks like Alpine took care of the hideous trim and have a trim available that is an exact match to the factory wood grain finish and silver trim. Because of this I'm considering this unit. Anybody know how the navigation is? I believe Alpine uses navteq.
Here's a pic of the new trim:

I wish I could stuff something like that in my NBS Denali, I know anything can be done with enough time and $$$. I have the factory Bose and a big 7" screen Garmin Street Pilot 7200. everything works great but would like to have it all in one unit.

That looks gorgeous.

With the Alpine unit, do I get to retain RES? Am I able to shoot video out to the rear screen while watching nav up front? Also can the rear passenger's listen to a dvd via the headphone jacks or wireless separately while in the rest of the car you listen to something else (like the oem does)?

I have a 2013 Tahoe LS without Bose. What all would I need to get this 8" Alpine HU installed? Do I need a harness or amp? Does anyone know how much that woodgrain trim is?
