I’ve got a 2016 Yukon with 128k miles. I’m pretty sure I’ve got a collapsed lifter. The problem started with the engine seruosly bogging between 1000-1500 rpm - and within less than 10 miles - it was making a very long tapping sound under the drivers side valve cover any time the rpm’s drop under 1000.

I talked to the local shop, and he said it sounded like DOD lifter. He said that if they confirm that I that as the problem, have two choices: have them do a DOD replacement - or buy a Deleted rebuilt long block. They said that at 128k miles, doing the DOD replacement is almost as expensive in terms of parts and labor as a rebuilt deleted long block.

Anybody have experience with this and the name of one or two reputable long block rebuilder? Thanks

Option 2, regardless of whether you replace your engine with a 5.3L, a 6.0L, a 6.2L, or a 6.6L.
You might be pleasantly surprised when you find out how much a 6.0L costs, especially compared to the 5.3L.
