I’ve got a 2016 Yukon with 128k miles. I’m pretty sure I’ve got a collapsed lifter. The problem started with the engine seruosly bogging between 1000-1500 rpm - and within less than 10 miles - it was making a very long tapping sound under the drivers side valve cover any time the rpm’s drop under 1000.
I talked to the local shop, and he said it sounded like DOD lifter. He said that if they confirm that I that as the problem, have two choices: have them do a DOD replacement - or buy a Deleted rebuilt long block. They said that at 128k miles, doing the DOD replacement is almost as expensive in terms of parts and labor as a rebuilt deleted long block.
Anybody have experience with this and the name of one or two reputable long block rebuilder? Thanks
