A/C issues 00 denali 5.7

Bought the truck in Nov. last year. Put new refrigerant in (a/c pro 20 oz can) Clutch kicks on but not getting that cold. Watched the gauge and put in enough to get in the high green area almost red.
Any ideas / suggestions please ? (im a newby at this) . Thank you!
