PO463 for 2mos, I thought related to erratic fuel gauge. And I thought there's 2nd pump on frame beneath driver seat, maybe wrong. If the tank pump failed, are after market pumps reliable? I've read some folks R&R tank pump by cutting thru floor. We have tank skid pan probably making shop replacement ever more expensive. PO463 is the only code. I've cleaned all the grounds trying to fix the gauge but no joy. Maybe pump the main problem. It's our only vehicle, so I need to get it back on the road. I'll appreciate all advice.

Need first to listen if the pump cycles on when you turn the key to the on position. If it does the next step is a fuel pressure test. If it doesn't then the next step is to check the wiring/relay and the trigger for the relay.

TU I was hasty to post so quickly. Disappointing to have our only car come home on a flatbed. Pump not running. I'm nearly deaf, but can usually feel the pump @ key-on. Tahoe out in the rain. I'll ck the relay when it stops. Thanks for a troubleshooting path.

The submerged pump on my Yukon had overheated so badly that the connector had "melted". I used to think I was saving money to see how far I could stretch my gas mileage. Never go below 1/4 tank! Changing pump is not too bad, depending on your rust situation. A block of wood on the jack, and remove the 2 straps holding the cover and tank up. The fittings at the 2 fuel lines can be difficult. I had to turn the nuts, and put twists into the hoses just to get them off. I would highly recommend getting the OEM GM fuel pump with sender assembly. Please post pics of your adventures. Good luck!

TU I appreciate the how-to advice. @ 87yrs I'll have to take it to a repair shop. I've read Delphi pumps are equally reliable to AC Delco. Have you any experience with Delphi? I should have the tank flushed while down and replace the fuel filter. There seems to be a lot of miles left in the Tahoe.
