Does anyone here have the 6.5 Turbo Diesel?
I just bought a 1994 2-door Tahoe 6.5 4wd. Ive never owned a diesel anything before, so Im looking for any tips or advice. Thanks!

Never use Starting fluid, Test glow plugs often,Use good fuel filters yearly. And RTFM !

L56 is the 6.5 turbo diesel and it has the 4L80 too. Silverado, and a six way power drivers seat.

Nice truck. I've never owned a 6.5L but a good friend bought a 1994 Suburban new with a 6.5L and I was his tech when I worked at the dealer and when I had my own shop. Just sold it last year with 350k on it. Over the course of 28 years I replaced 1 injector, a PMD, a battery cable and an AC compressor. Changed the oil religiously using Shell Rotella. Still had the factory water pump on it when I sold it for him.

Good to know, thank you! Mine has already had a PMD relocation with a new PMD (I accidentally found where they put it, behind the front bumper)
I need to disassemble and clean my injectors. My truck has sat unused in a barn for ten years! It already has a new fuel tank, lift pump and filters. Once it’s running it runs great.

I had a 95 Silverado N/A Diesel. Thing was a beast. 19mpg. Still kinda wish I had it, but now I would need more seats.

Wife begged me not to get rid of it.. But it had to go, I lost my job back in the obummer recession.

Great engines if you treat them right. Don't drive it like a gasser because it's not. Clean oil is its friend.

Yep, I have a 96 2 door with the ol 6.5, she gets me around. My son is driving it as his first vehicle until he graduates and heads to the army. I’ve had her for about 4 years now? Had some issues but she’s all fixed up, she’s got about 270k miles and still runs strong.

I have one, a 1994 6.5 diesel. 1994 was the last year they called them Blazer before changing the name to Tahoe.

I’ve driven it it all these years, kept it in a garage, and changed the oil religiously. Only issue I’ve had was the fuel injection pump. Last time it went out, the mechanic removed the turbo cover and I haven’t had an issue since.

169k miles, original everything, including brakes. It still runs great but I’m ready for a new Tahoe.
