4WD question

this past weekend was the first snow and I tested out the Tahoe in 4hi and it felt horrible, it would be pulling one way then all of a sudden it pulls the other way, almost like one wheel was getting power up front then out of nowhere they both were getting power and it kept doing that. Is that what Tahoes do or is something messed up
