Gotcha!
This first quarter would include expenses for the original recall that started last summer though.
Listening to that interview with CNBC Paul Jacobson was certainly optimistic that they would continue to improve margins.
If the failure rate was higher than 3% Im pretty sure that would cut into the 10% margin.

Those corporate guys though…

I certainly didn’t mean to imply you didn’t know what you were talking about and sorry if it came off that way!
I was surprised how well GM did over the past 2 years especially compared to other automakers.

It's funny, now I am seeing people (not here) claiming they are on their 5th or 6th engine, that GM is having them sign NDA's to get a new engine, and even one who said they put a 5.7L (yes 5.7L) in their truck by mistake. Of course when you ask for proof.....

Just took a family trip from NJ shore to Chicago and back. I’m at 10500 miles. Last oil change was 6100 miles only a few months back. Thinking I’ll change the oil and send for analysis at 12k miles.

Checked the oil today and it’s still at the top; hasn’t burned a drop. Also catch can did catch about 1/4 of the reservoir.

Will update after I send the analysis in and get the results. I still feel my 6.2 is solid, but we’ll see!

I’m sure if there is any bearing wear it will show up in the oil analysis for sure at this point.

BTW was really impressed with the truck mpg. 7 people, loaded up Thule on the roof rack, and averaged 17mpg at a 85mph cruising speed. This is also with the AFM disabled.

Was that Premium fuel and/or E85... oxygenated, etc.? Just trying to get a handle on the general mileage. Thanks.

Stopped a few times. All premium so 93 or 92. Probably the generic 10% ethanol.

Computer. Why would it be wrong? It does the miles driven by the gallons used….

That fuel economy shown is using the last 450 miles averaged. Looks like my best 450 mile trip had 19.5mpg. Probably when I wasn’t loaded with people and cargo and a roof box.

Looks like I never reset trip 2; that looks to be the average of the entire life of the vehicle. Still good for all the city driving and idling I’d say.

I bet with AFM active it would be even more. Truck is rated at 21mpg highway.

Because it’s not actually measuring fuel consumption. There is no metering device in the fuel line. I’ve been manually logging fuel mileage in my last 5 tahoes and even the 21 is off by a touch. Sometimes more and sometimes less. Try it yourself and let us know the difference.

The truck knows how much fuel is in the tank by the float in there and knows how much gas has been used….

So it does measure fuel consumption by gallons used and miles driven. I don’t get it???

This is a good approximation, but it can never be as accurate as, say, weighing the tank.
Close enough for optimists, yes ...

Try keeping track of it for yself SPEARATE from the vehicle itself. You will ALWAYS find small variances

You do you my guy. But I will bet the farm it is not the same as manual calculations. My way is not 100% accurate since the fuel fill level may be off by a few cc’s from the pump, but at least I trust it more for logging purposes.

Yes I see.

But I paid for a computer, I’m going to use it!
