Well, my wife fell victim to this issue this evening. 2022 Yukon XL SLT that is 2 months old with 2000 miles. She has remote started multiple times in the last 2 months. This time around, the car would not start back up. All electrical worked fine. Onstar diagnostics showed engine errors. It had to be dragged up a flat bed as there is no way to put the car in neutral. Tow guy said he dealt with 2 others in the past week with the exact same issue.

Will report back what the dealer says when they see it tomorrow.
Sorry to hear it. Hopefully your dealer has a lead on a fix. Picking mine back up tomorrow but won’t risk using the remote start until they have a permanent fix.

Yes brake lights worked. Tried service mode as per the manual -- all the lights came on but it still wouldnt shift into neutral (or start). Tow guys dragged it onto the flatbed and now i await the dealer. At least it was in my driveway and not on a road trip somewhere!

When I had a similar issue, it turned out to be a bad battery

It was the key fob. What do you need to have for the app to work? Onstar? I think mine came with 36 Months of connected services - app functionality is a charge after that?
The app only works to lock/unlock/remote start with an active onstar subscription or free trial. Once our free trial was up and I did not subscribe to onstar the app basically became worthless

Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago with my new Suburban 2022. Remote started daily for a few weeks no problem, then one day I remote start it, about 10 minutes later got on the car while the car was running, pressed the Start button and the car turned off. Press Start again, nothing, dead. I got lights, dashboard, but the engine would not start.

Called in for a jump start. The car started and tried to drive, but the steering wheel was very stiff. The dashboard showed a message indicating that it needed to be serviced.

Got the car towed to the dealership. They looked at it and told me everything was working fine.

The person at the dealership had the theory that the battery discharged for some reason. Then, the car computer started shutting off systems to preserve the battery charge, one of them being the power steering.

The morning of the incident was colder than usual, and I had configured the car to auto-start seat warmers and the steering wheel heater. I found some information in the car manual about the vehicle not generating enough electricity to keep the battery charged while running idle. I believe this caused the battery to drain.

In any case, I picked up the car from the dealership, turned off the automatic seat warmers/power steering heater, and haven't run into the issue again.

The same thing happened to me just the other day with mine!

Pumped gas at Sam's Club, I remote start the vehicle out of habit with the key fob and it went dead when I hit the start button.

A few tries of with high level stress/panic before I called my service manager of the Chevy store I work at to get a tow set up. She had recommended I try this procedure first that you may be familiar with like turning off the ignition, opening/closing the driver door, try to restart. No dice.

As they're looking for service bulletins back at the dealership she keeps me on the phone and I decide to turn the vehicle off and let it sit for 10 minutes to reset the computers then try to restart it. That worked!

If this happens to you... try turning it off and leaving the vehicle off for 10 minutes.

I ended up finding the bulletin for it that was published on the 8th of December. There is no fix currently and do not use your remote start until there is a fix. It's BCM related and on all GM FS SUV models for 2022.

I still use my remote start because I live dangerously. :)

Would be nice if there was a way for Chevy/ GM to communicate these bulletins to customers, rather than waiting for us to have the issue and be stranded. It’s been on and off single digits around here this time of year and being stuck with a truck that won’t start and two kids under 5 we’ll all freeze pretty quickly!!! Lol!

So that bulletin only lists MY 22 vehicles so does that mean us '21 owners are safe? Wife and I remote start like it's going out of style and don't have any plans to stop

Just got my ‘21 Yukon slt in mid-December and have been remote starting like a champ. The remote works remarkably far away I’d say. I have 1,900 miles and wondering if I should back off the remote starting too.

I bet it is new software with the new cluster. Guess I’ll quit using it. If anybody hears when the fix comes out - let us know.

Tldr; try disconnecting battery for 5 minutes.
Same thing happened to my wife, after we had the vehicle for 4 days, I drove to where she was, I had brought jumper cables but forgot a multimeter; I had assumed I had installed a media player wrong and it killed the battery. Anyway OnStar said engine error and it had to be towed. I got there hooked up jumpers, didn't work, as soon as you hit the start button, everything went black. Took off negative cable from batt, continued with jumpers on, waited approx 6 minutes, disconnected the jump, reconnected negative, started right up. Cancelled the tow and it has had zero issues since. This is a 22 Yukon xl Denali. It was remote started by app. I don't think the battery was low at all, so jump was likely no effect. Got a 10mm that is now staying in the Yukon just in case it happens again.

I have a 2022 Tahoe Z71, have used remote start many times over last 2 months, then one this same scenario happened, I remote started, got in the car, hit the start button and it stalled. Dealers tow driver jumped it, it started, he went on his way, I put it in driver to bring it to the dealership and immediately realized no power steering, had the tow driver return, bring it to the dealer, off the tow, started right up and had steering worked find. Dealer found the error codes POE32 and POE37 BUT no answers as to the power steering issue. Does anyone have insight to the power steering issue that the two of us have had?

So I had a similar issue yesterday. Truck started at 3 locations in AM then when I tried at my mother’s just long cranking ( I have seen that elsewhere on the internet). Couldn’t get into neutral. Dealer couldn’t help.

Worst service on the planet from Gm roadside. This happened at 830 am. They sent tow trucks but no dolly twice. Hours on hold. Third truck didn’t show. Maybe I should have just had them drag it like others. But, Returned at 130 am to truck still there. I tried it and it started and I drove it home. I don’t think I ever let it sit due 15-20 minutes at any pint without trying to start it before I left it in the driveway waiting for tow

So, it must be the remote start issue but anyone else getting the long crank?

So this seems to be a '22 issue only then? We're closing in on 9K miles on our 21 and remote start pretty much daily with no issues to report

It is 22 only. Dealer bulletin was dated 12/8 so feels like it’s taking them a long time to come up with a software fix. I haven’t remote started mine since having it towed as I don’t want to chance it again - however it seems like a fairly uncommon occurrence.

I was wondering the same if there's been an update, and if there is, how we're supposed to find out? When our Tahoe gets towed in and they say "oh yes there's a bulletin for this here is a software update"...
