2021: Under the Hood $ Above the Radiator

Like the subject mentioned, Under the hood and above the radiator, what is that section (red circle)? What is the purpose?

That is where the outside air is brought into the airbox and then into the engine. It pulls air up into the area in the circle and it goes into the airbox, under the mesh on the right side of the picture. It seems to be a very nice design.
