Certainly scary, potentially dangerous! It’s done it twice now in the last two weeks. Fortunately I was entering a parking lot and just getting started so speeds were slow when it completely shut down.

No error codes show up when checking that been a great vehicle only has 60,000 miles on it. I’d hate to have to buy a new one.

best place to start looking is at the battery and battery cables/grounds
this is a issue with the newer 2021+ with engine failures, but have not heard of this applying to 2015-2020

It’s interesting that once you’re over the shock it starts right back up again without any problems. But this morning when I was backing out of the garage thing seemed a little weird and I got those computer messages that says please roll your drivers window all the way down and all the way up and when I did that it said do the same with the passenger window.

UPDATE!!
$1100 later.... dealership replaced the "Alternator harness" and the battery cables.... claiming the resistance measured was too high, causing the problem?!?!?!

Lets Hope........

Any updates? Mine did the same thing today and I suspect the alternator.

What makes you suspect the alternator ? If the alternator is dead it’s usually pretty obvious.. if you know the battery is good, but the electrical system is dead, and the car wont start.. alternator is a good place to look

But if it killed, and you were able to start back up, it could be a plethora of things.. loose connections, bad grounds, etc.

but the OP stated that their alternator “harness” was replaced, indicating the copper wires had corroded bad enough to be an issue. So, maybe start inspecting battery cables and grounds to start off . . .

Mine cut off while driving and was not able to start back up. No codes were present as recently as Sunday, no warning of any kind. I wasn't able to turn on hazard lights or anything electrical until I got it towed home and sat it on a charger for a couple hours. After that I was able to unlock, etc.

Only other time I've had a vehicle cut off while driving, it was the alternator that died, it then ran on the battery momentarily until that died. Back then I was able to replace the brushes on it and that's all, good as new. I suspect these new alternators are no longer easily serviceable and will need the whole unit to be replaced.
