2016 Tahoe - Rear Liftgate Not Opening - Switch Deactivated Error

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with the rear liftgate on my 2016 Tahoe. When I press the liftgate button, nothing happens — it won’t open. The button to close it doesn’t work either. On the driver’s display, I get a message saying “Liftgate switch deactivated.”

Has anyone else run into this? Any tips or solutions would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

There’s a knob in your overhead console that can be accidentally turned to off. It says Max, 3/4 etc..

It worked!
The switch was set to OFF. I turned it to “MAX” and the liftgate started working again.
