I own a 2015.5 Tahoe LTZ (non flex fuel) the engine burned two quarts of oil in 3k miles... dealership said we should change the oil every 3000 miles and said the engine is fine... I said that’s BS. They also said the AFM is fine even tough the engine sounds like a diesel clicking away while at idle... any suggestions on what I should do?

You need to go to a another dealer. I have 100K miles on my 2016 LT and use zero oil between my 5K mile oil changes.

Have not heard many issues with the AFM on the 2015+. The super few I did hear issues about were from neglected oil changes.

Did you buy your vehicle new? If you bought it used what did the service records show about previous service?

that dealer is worthless & lying to you. ;) also seems a bit negligent of them to tell you that.

def. find a diff dealer

how many miles do you have?

im less miles than Gary... @ almost 70k
i also change my oil @ 5k. not losing any oil at all.
i drive a bit rough too b/c im supercharged & its a hoot

your 5.3 shouldnt sound like a diesel, it needs some attention.

I have a 2016 had since new. I am at 116k miles. I drive pretty hard and it is not stock. I change oil as indicated on the DIC and I have 0 consumption issues. My Tahoe is as quiet as can be other than a little trans noise but it does have a built trans and converter. You are being lied to by a dealer who does not want to do any work. They likely have an idea of the issue and do not feel its worth their time for the warranty pay.

Find another dealer and start fresh.

What everyone has said about your dealer is right, you need another dealer.

That level of oil consumption indicates you have some problems, but you know that if your valve train is tapping away. Find a highly regarded mechanic in your area (ideally one with ACDelco signs on their building) and go see them.
