I got 8mpg on the highway once in my 2011 Z71 Suburban......

....but that was pulling a 7x14 enclosed trailer with 2 motorcycles and a ton of gear from NJ to Pittsburgh! :)

To be honest, I get about 14.5 around town and 17+ on the highway.

Just random, or did you find out why? I got 8MPG, both ways.
This is flat land, Btw. Phoenix to Yuma, AZ.
As Flat as it gets

My commute to work is about 5 miles of highway and 6 miles of 50mph to 25mph city driving and even with the AC on I'm still getting 14.5mpg. A week without the AC on puts me in the 15mpg range.

FWIW, my 2011 has less than 40k on the clock and I run regular gas.

Geez, i am seeing 18-19 mixed driving. you can check for brake drag by feeling the wheels after a good drive, they may be warm, but hot to the touch, no.

This is from yesterday's trip from central NJ to the Pocono's and back. Not too bad for a trip with lots of hills.:)

Are you sure you have a 6.0? That year and model of vehicle should have came with a 5.3.

I would check fuel filter and have the fuel system pressure checked.

I would get around 17-19 in my old Yukon even mixed driving.

You should also look into a tune from Blackbear----a vendor on here. I have a shorty Yukon but with the 6-0 and I get 19-21 on the highway with their 91 OCT Tune. Besides better fuel economy(if you are not heavy on the pedal)-a tune really wakes up your vehicle....
