I started a thread about adding Sea Foam via a vacuum line to address a undoubtedly plugged PCV system. Among other issues.

Now I'm pursuing what appears to be a popular fix for a common problem on several iterations of the LS engine including my 2005 LM7. That being upgrading to a newer version of the drivers side valve cover.
I was directed to a TSB although it doesn't include a 2005 model nor an LM7.

So, as I continue to search, I'll ask here. Does anyone have a part number and a procedure that's the most current?
By procedure I don't mean how to remove a valve cover but rather any other modifications required, such as grommets, updated PCV valves or fixed orifices needed to complete the upgrade. The best I can come up at this time is GM's 12570427.

Thanks in advance.

That part number is what Rock Auto -- as well as www.gmpartsgiant.com -- shows for a 2005 5.3L engine. Go to that GM web site and enter your VIN, and find the part numbers under the Engine category. But don't order from them, just get the part number. Or ask your GM dealer for part numbers.

For grommets I would think you'd want to replace those, too, using the ones that are shown for your engine. I would think that they are fairly universal for these engines, since the valve covers are the same. Perhaps others will comment.

When I had my '05 L59 in the shop for oil leaks, the shop asked me if it experienced excessive oil consumption, and if I wanted to update the DS valve cover. So he was aware of the difference, even though the TSB didn't include my year.

That's my approach to just about anything vehicle related. I've never been to gm parts giant though and I'll definitely take a look.
That said, I would think that although the original valve cover baffle design was problematic, if cleaned to an as new condition, there should be some casue effect results that would show I'm going in the right directon.
Thanks Fless!

I will certainly post back with what I find and what results I get, if any, after cleaning. That said, I'm committed to indoor projects until the end of April so don't hold your breath. And once a swing my attention to the outdoor jobs, the truck will be on the sidelines for a while still.
But having some direction and a plan is half the battle.
