2005 Denali Yukon won't take fuel- NOT THE EVAP SOLENOID

I have a 2005 Yukon Denali AWD. It won't fuel more than at a sipping pace. It takes about 45 minutes to fill up the entire tank. First, I disconnected the filler tube and ran a piece of bungee through with no issues. Then I came to this forum and discovered the Evap solenoid is a regular (and cheap) fix. Even though I didn't have the common complain of the check engine light, i replaced the Evap solenoid valve with a new AC Delco unit. I'm still having the same problem. I did look inside the filler valve and see a floaty loose plastic thingy, but it seemed to move like it should (should it move?).

Possibly a co-symptom is the fuel gauge is very slow to turn on and show an accurate indication. When I first start the vehicle, it will show "LOW RANGE", then slowly climb over about a 20 minute drive.

Opinions on why this truck won't let me fuel it up?

Have you replaced the fuel pressure solenoid that resides on top of the tank?

Had the same issue with mine and I ended up replacing a lot of things to find out it was the evap canister that the evap solenoid is connected to. One way to test it is try and take it off of the truck and shake it or even shake the lines that are going into it. If you hear stuff rattling inside than you need to replace it because the beads inside it are broken loose and clogging some of the lines. I also am having a hard start issue that I think is being caused by some loose beads in the lines.

With his being a 2005 I believe the fuel pressure solenoid is apart of the fuel pump.

After much cursing and two busted knuckles from those stupid evap hoses, the vapor canister has been replaced, without a resolution to the problem. Should I just burn this tank and sell the truck?

I have the same issue. I've replace the evap canister and cleaned the lines. The only thing that helps is to hold the filler nozzle (gas pump thingy) up at a higher angle instead of just letting it rest inside the tube while pumping gas. So I don't know what to do but you my friend are not alone lol

Use a straw it helps just dint drop it in there

A good scanner can functions test vent valve and purge solenoid. Smoke machine would help . But not always accessible. Basically there is a restriction somewhere in the vent system.

Your gas tank lines are plugged up with carbon beads from the charcaol canister, you need to remove the lines and blow the beads out.

This is the answer. Had to do mine. You have to drop the tank, and blow out all of the lines. (after charcoal canister has been replaced) Nearly impossible to remove all of the beads with the tank in place. At least it doesn't cost anything! The tahoe tank is actually fairly easy to drop. I have done it on a few different vehicles, and this was by far the easiest. Just make sure it doesnt have a too much fuel in it. Maybe 2hr total job.
