I’m sure he would love to chime in on heads. You should have seen our conversations on shit like torque converters, headers, rockers, superchargers.....I asked him all kinds of shit. Dude is smart as hell and he explains it all effortlessly.
Awesome! I need to spend more money.. lol

You should find a 6.o or 6.2 and slowly start. With your documentation skills it would make a sweet thread! Then you could donate the motor to me :D
I think it will be a 6.2, for the Silverado. Just because there isn’t much left for me to do to that truck. Just undecided if I could fit a pair of turbos. No height room for a blower I don’t think since they had to lower the engine when they did the body drop. But it will have to wait until I sell my Harley Davidson Nightrod custom regardless.

Yeah I said over .550, at least that’s what my buddy Roger Vinci taught me. And you meant DUAL springs, right? o_O

No I'm fairly certain a "quality single spring" like a Pac1219 is considered by many to be plenty for a mild duration cam with .600 lift. Many reports on Ls1 tech and PT.net of people using them and them failing after 25k miles.

I figured I'd be lucky and they would last forever. I also underestimated how much I'd drive this truck. 23k in a year and I own 2 other trucks lol.

Making great progress! Parts actually came in yesterday but I forgot about a cam retaining plate so I had to overnight that and got it this morning.

Got started about an hour or 2 ago and have gotten a bunch done. Everything under the timing cover is done and buttoned up, and heads are on just need torquing. Should be done before dinner if everything else goes smooth.

Was ready to rock about 4 o clock until I needed a coolant plug for the passenger side. Nobody in town even stocks them so I bought a sensor instead. There was so much coolant still in the oil I ended up changing to oil a total of 6 times! Took forever because I let it drain completely each time while the front of the truck was raised.

To my surprise it started up on the first click of the ignition! Holds an idle and even drives fine but I know it needs a tune before I go WOT.

Also it's still to quiet and this video sucks.

Thanks! It was definantly a thrash to get it together but I think finding all the parts might have been the worst part. Its depressing that a $100 difference between single vs dual springs just cost me over $1,000 but the bigger cam makes up for that! :Big Laugh:

Well made it to work without any issues it tried to stall one time but caught itself. I think I have an exhaust leak on the passenger side but other than that its great!

I do not know for sure. I want to say the PO told me they were 1219s but I was love-struck when I picked the truck up then drove for 20 something hours so my memory is a little shot. I am actually sending one out to a guy on PT.net and he is going to test them to see what spring they are. Then we will know for sure and I can not spread misinformation.

Why did you change yours out?

cause the cam gear broke off the front of the cam and bent about 8 valves.

then i replaced the engine

they were pac 1219X...they are actually still on the heads dont know if the heads can be saved. the springs i would prob reuse for a stock rebuild or something

That's the direction I am heading. It cost a pretty penny to get kinda ***** heads fixed up in less than a day and parts overnighted on a weekend. Its funny parts locating is more stressful than engine reassembly.
