Had someone try to steal my Yukon Denali. During the process they damaged the ignition lock cylinder and housing that the ignition switch plugs into.

The question at hand is what is the process required to remove the ignition housing to replace that component? Does the steering wheel have to be pulled? Can anyone direct me to a parts diagram?

Thank you for the reply. I’ve gone through the video and that just shows how to replace the switch. On the switch there’s a gear that contacts another gear inside the switch housing. The gear inside the housing has some broken teeth so when you turn the key it doesn’t turn the gear on the switch like it should

I usually buy a steering column, then swap in old key reader and new cylinder. Saves hours, and digging out tools not used much. I don't trust utube for something like this, download a manual. The air bag can break both your thumbs and make nose hurt.

I’ve already pulled the airbag and steering wheel. Trying to figure out the next step in the sequence
