I don’t know the RPO code for that option. The auto-dim rearview mirror on my ’01 Tahoe has a small photocell sensor on the lower rim of the mirror to the left of the COMP button.

If you have auto-dim and you replace the glass with non-dimming glass then you will definitely notice the increased headlight glare at night. My ’02 Silverado doesn’t have auto-dim and it’s a PITA on the highway at night.

Looks like it does have auto dimming. This is a pic of when I first bought the truck earlier this year.

The RPO's for outside mirrors are in the "D" section, if that helps. Mine has RPO code DR2 which says:

DR2 4529 P MIR M MIRROR O/S LH & RH, REMOTE CONTROL, ELECTRIC, HEATED, LT SENSITIVE, MANUAL FOLDING, COLOR

Yours may be different depending on if they are color-matched or not as well as other options. There's a lot of RPO codes for exterior mirrors. You could look at your codes in the "D" portion and match them up with a code list.

Isn't that the auto dim photo cell in the lower left bottom corner? Right next to the button.
That's it but does that mean both the inside AND outside are auto dimming, or can it just have the inside center mirror auto dimming?

I have RPO code DR2 as well. The owner’s manual says that the driver’s side mirror dimming is controlled by the auto-dim rearview (electrochromic) mirror. I don’t know if an inside mirror only option was available or not.

So you can always install the heated but non auto dimming mirrors to eliminate the possibility of that same problem happening again.

Yes, I could but too late. Ordered the non-heated one yesterday. I needed one asap as this truck is my daily driver and it's downright dangerous right now. It's cheap so getting a heated one in the future is gonna happen.

Too bad I learned about the auto-dimming too late.

Ok, to finish up this thread. I got the mirror yesterday but it was already dark out. Installed it after work while it was still warm out. Took pics as I went along, especially the wiring once I decide that I really need the heated glass. I sprayed the inside mounting ring with silicone as it made it easier to snap in. Initial try, it would not snap in.

Glass is a little warped, but I don't stare at it anyways when driving. Will give it a test while I am driving and if I turn green and puke after trying to change lanes, it gets replaced with a heated on asap.

It might not be snapped in all the way, that's what was causing mine to look warped. One of the tabs wasn't all the way snapped in.

Gave it another push this morning and it clicked. A lot better but still can see a slight warp. OEM passenger glass has no warp in it. Either way, huge improvement.

If you use the controls to adjust it to just the right position ( I believe it's all the way down and to the inside) you can reach behind it with your fingers with one hand and push with your other hand. I think you can also see in there to make sure all the tabs are snapped in. You might still have one that's not snapped.
