Guys,

Mine is a heated mirror that turned bronze in color. I was able to cut the bottom so the bronze fluid could leak out. Problem is, 80% of the glass is still hard to see with.

Is there a replacement (non heated) glass piece I can replace it with? If so, are there instructions posted somewhere?

Thanks,
Leo

I think it means you stick it on top of your old mirror. If that's what it is I'd stay away from that one.

Just grabbed this real quick to show you.

Yeah you want one with the plastic attached so it just snaps on. It's very easy that way.

Ha ha, yeah, was looking at the Amazon ones and the cheap ones are glass only. There is a heated one with the plastic back for $18.88 plus $1.50 tax and free shipping if I have prime which I don't. I also really want a non-heated one. I live in San Diego, California and I will never need a heated mirror.

Why do you want a non-heated one when you said your original is heated? They're about the same price and if your truck has the heated mirror option then you should get a heated one. I appreciate being able to defrost my mirrors!

Basically, I don't want to have to replace it again if it goes bad like my current one. My non-heated passenger side is crystal clear.

Before you mentioned your problem with your mirror, I've never heard of that problem with our trucks before.

Yeah, I found other posts with the same bronze coloring in the heated glass on the Yukon/Tahoe.

I've never heard of it on our trucks either. I believe if you replace it once you'll never have a problem again.

Quick search? That was from 2011! If you have to go back 5 years to find another instance I'd have to say it's a non-issue but if you're worried what can I say.

I cracked my ds when i had my 01 yukon slt. I just purchased another heated glass, popped the old one out, unplugged the connector, plugged in the new connector and snapped the new heated glass in.

Quick search and here is one. Scroll down to see his pic. Mine was 4 times worse.

I think the bronze fluid you’re seeing may be from the auto-dimming feature rather than the heater as someone mentioned in the thread you pointed to. Do you have auto-dimming rearview / side view mirrors? The leaking fluid issue from auto-dimming mirrors is mentioned here:
