2002 tahoe HID 55watt fog light issues

I just installed DDM tunning 55watt HID kit for my fog lights. I have dealt with this company many times in the past with great results. I already sent them an email and just waiting for response but i actually dont think its an issue with the HIDs. The drivers side comes on with no problems at all. The passenger side is the issue. At first it would come on for 10-20 seconds then turn off. Some times it would flicker or flash constantly until 20 seconds and then go off. I did a bench test with the ballast and hid light and it works great, bright and no flickering.

Is there a separate relay or fuse something on the truck that me causing this? Whoever has the HIDs instead on there fog lights did you have to change anything?

EDIT: Just did some more searching and from the looks of it i might need the harness kit DDM sells. I am going to purchase it today and will keep you guys posted.

i just put DDM fogs in my tahoe

no problem at all

35w 6000k

just plug and play

u might need that harneess since your running 55w

heard 55w gets too hot and will melt ur fog light housing

My fogs were plug and play as well-no harness needed and I have also read that 55watt HIDs will scorch up them foglight housings so beware.

Ihave a similar problem with my passenger side 55w, I also have the HID harness.

I am coming to the conclusion based off of countless threads across the web, that its a ground issue.
What I am going to do to test it is just simply tap into the harness near the fog plug and ground it to the body on passenger side.
When will I do this? beats me as I tend to be a lazy shiet on simple mods like this..
I do wish there was a vendor that made a harness kit with a more robust wire setup than DDM's thin lil wires.

problem might be drawing to much current with the 55w, get a set of 35w

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but for some reason I don't always get an email showing that someone replied.

As for my issue i resolved it last night. It was a ground problem.

Let me explain.....My first problem was with the fog light button. When i hit my fog light button the rear wiper would go on for a split second. Doing some research I found a post on this site that had a bulletin about it stating the ground wire on the rear washer pump needs to be cut and re grounded. I followed the instructions and did it last night, now that issue has been resolved. On top of that the fog lights work. The other two wires that are on that ground post were for the fog lights at least one of the other wires were. I left the truck in the drive way running with the fogs on for about 10 minutes and no issue they are nice and bright. This morning when i left at 6am in the dark they were still working nice and bright.

As for being to bright and melting the lenses that i will need to see i cant return them now.

hmm... this is interesting. I have 35w HID fogs, no harness, and never had any issues, but I too have noticed that when I hit my fog light button, my rear wiper starts then stops.....

Just gotta be sure to figure out which of the 2 pumps is the one for the rear wiper squirter, otherwise the fix won't work!

I have the same issue with my 35w HID's in my headlights. I wont use DDM because I got a buddy that owns a little custom shop and get from him for cheaper. But my passenge side does not want to come on with DRL's and lights set to auto. I know it is not a big issue to repair and its not drawing to much power for you.

I had an OBS running 4high mod with 55w lows and 35w highs and would never have an issue.

I just am pulling my DRL fuse.

In my truck, 2002 Tahoe the rear plug for the rear wiper pump was the one that had the green wire with a white stripe and a solid color black wire.

Thinking of running the DDM 35w HID kit in the fogs on my Tahoe. Does the 880 HID bulb fit in the fog light housing or will I need to modify anything?
