wiring was finished mainly now and ready for the first test drive.

First test drive went okay. Was getting a knock sensor code though which I was in dis belief because I put brand new ac delco sensors in.

Well waiting on my buddy to come help tune and diagnose cause it wasn’t running well I at least got some good pictures and switched all the lights to clear on it

Turns out the knock sensors were bad brand new. Replaced with some lifetime warranty ones from oreillys cause it was all that was available unfortunately. But at the same time now it’s been a couple thousand miles with zero issues. Just frustrating.

Also found the misfire issue after fighting it for a couple weeks. Had those heat boots over my 100 dollar Taylor plug wires and it still burnt through. Word of advise if the plug wires are touching they will burn! Luckily had a handful of stock wires with the metal cover that fit cyl 3 and worked till my accelerated ceramic wires came in.

Cool thing in oregon is you can get special interest plates and if you find a era/year correct license plate you can use it instead for a classic car. I found this 69 plate on eBay for 20 bucks. Clear coated it and had the number registered to my truck.
69EE8B13-F739-4F65-B12C-8723B13F4AFB.jpeg

On my birthday I was able to get a rare picture of my dad, both grandpas, and uncle in one picture. And to make it better my dad and I had our trucks together too. Hoping by the end of summer we can get everyone’s old cars/trucks together in one picture. My grandpa has a 55 gasser bel air, other grandpa has a 55 Chevy pickup, uncle has a 51 olds sedan, and my dad has 2 69 Chevy pickups plus the 64 nova.

Currently trying to help my intake air temps now. Got the hold cut in the core support and waiting on the velocity stack.

Haven’t fully decided what to do with my intake manifold and rad cover. I took a flapper wheel on the grinder and made them have a matching design for now. Don’t hate it but also am not sold on it.

Surprisingly enough for me the stereo has been the last thing on my mind. But Ordered some 3.5” carbon neos through sky high for the dash.
28271C4A-574F-4B3D-AC03-71478536FC2F.jpeg

Went with a retro sounds Long Beach radio to keep a somewhat factory look, when I turn it on it’s full digital with Bluetooth usb etc etc. was a little annoyed after buying a 400 dollar head unit and the first one that got to me I couldn’t even turn it up loud enough to hear with the truck running because it was cutting out.

After the typical phone calls with them arguing about how it’s install and not their unit, I had to pay to ship it back. They got it and called me saying it was good to go.

I asked what the issue was and he said nothing it works great…..well again had to argue and tell him it didn’t then he actually turned it up enough while bench testing it and apologized saying he now heard what I was talking about. They shipped me back a replacement and so far so good.

Stereo plan for this is gonna be simple just a set of 6.5” dc ss pro like I have in the Tahoe, the 3.5” in the dash(which are actually pretty damn loud) and 6 6.5” dc m4 subs downfiring behind the seat on a couple thousand watts. But that won’t be for a little while not high on the priority list. Plus the Tahoe needs subs rebuilt as well.

2489CFCC-707E-425C-BF7D-C60957EC7AB4.jpeg

Roll control installed. Need to get my disc brake front end on though cause the drums don’t hold the truck that well currently while trying to do a burnout.
03CC1C36-204B-401F-A9CA-57E9332F2E6E.jpeg

And I got the accel ceramic plug wires on. Now I don’t have to worry about burnt wires anymore. Got a set for the Tahoe as well.

Ended up getting a chance to see the two brothers private car collection in Salem. Around $50 million in cars. 117000 sq ft warehouse. Everything from exotics to muscle cars etc.

I knew going in that it would be crazy but Jesus the amount of one off, rare, perfectly restored cars was mind boggling. I took about 50 pictures here is a few

The bigger side was all the American cars.

This 69 chevelle had less than 50 original miles.

Should have gotten a closer pic but the lavender 65 mustang was a custom ordered color in 65(only one in existence) and has less than 3 original miles on it. I guess the story behind it is a guy bought it with the intention to store it away and sell it for retirement. Apparently he did just that. Absolute insanity.

They were oem ac delco. Same ones I put on the Tahoe awhile ago. That’s what irritated me the most.

I was in a time crunch to get that fixed before I could get it tuned(my tuner is always busy so It’s hard to get him scheduled)

So I got standard ignition brand ones from oreillys. They are lifetime warranty but I don’t care what kind of warranty they have I just want them to last and not have to keep ripping the intake manifold off it’s a pain in the ass lol. So far these ones have been good at least.

From what I have heard those knock sensors can get damaged easily from shipping or getting thrown around so my guess is that is what happened. ‍♂

Time to update this build thread. Couple new things with my pickup and the Tahoe!

New tail lights for the pickup wanted to make sure they were bright. Love the clear oem housings and found a company that sells plug n play full led boards.

As I seem to like to do last minute everything lol about a week before our big surf city sound off audio and car show I decided I was gonna fork out the money to recone the subs in the Tahoe finally. Only took almost a year but my pickup kept me from doing that.
Subs pulled

after cutting out the cones I saw the suspension ripping on the bottom. Most likely from the first enclosure being too big and letting them over exert themselves.

Just want to say how awesome DC Audio is. Was in a time crunch. These were shipped on a Thursday and on my door step on a Sunday

I decided this time to get an extra stuff spider pack, the new tall roll surrounds and 3ft direct leads for easier wiring. This was in august and they are still stiff right now. Seem to be gaining as I play them though which is awesome.

Prep work done. Really forgot how much fun it is grinding the baskets. Just think of cutting onions that have been soaking in acetone. It’s awful. Lol.
2F36CFFB-7503-4A6C-BD34-AE96878BAD76.jpeg

Reconed them all in a couple days.

All done!

Nice thing about direct leads. Just run them straight to the enclosure and kept my wiring ocd in check

All done and installed just a few days before the show.
D7E2C64E-B36F-4954-B51E-E79510BE5E24.jpeg

First test already looking like it’s metering louder. (Last year best was a 156.03)
F1492219-9486-4724-8D49-F2E5A8C798EB.jpeg

I decided this year to put my truck in the car show so needed to seal up my filler neck door. Welded the hole shut, grinded smooth and covered it with some tractor enamel black that surprisingly blends perfect with my truck paint lol. (Same stuff I did the whole engine bay with)

Surf was awesome per usual. Never bringing two rigs two hours away again though it was stressful and a pain prepping everything etc. but still a good time. Nice to have both my babies together at an event though.

And much to my surprise the Tahoe did a 156.9! Almost a full db gain just with some fresh soft parts in the subs.

Saw someone post these on a fb page. Almost identical to the og apc clears just slightly smoked. Gonna have these be my main set probably winter then bring the apc out on occasion maybe but would rather risk these getting messed up or weathered and they really blend pretty nicely for being smoked.

NW IASCA regionals was a great but long show. Finally the Tahoe holds over a 55 on music which has been my goal with it forever. Put up my best bass boxing scores. Took the NW regional championship for advanced no wall 1 and bassboxing lightweight!

Didn’t get many pics but this was in centralia Washington. Didn’t finish the show till almost 9. Started heading back 3hr drive home……less than 20 miles in and I lose the inner 1” of tread on my front tires. Limped it to my girls place in Washington and unfortunately les schwab was the only place that would get me tires around southern Washington. 1700 dollars later ughhh. So now I have continental extreme contact dws tires.

Had another show with USACI at the local drag strip. They place the meter in the passenger side kick panel. Which still are scores regardless but I don’t really count them because you aren’t feeling that pressure unless you put your head in the footwell hahaha. But still cool to try something different. Did a 158.3 then a 156.3 average on a full minute of music.

Got new wheels for my pickup. Some 18’s defintiely fit it nicely. Was slightly worried with the fact they are black/polished lip(instant flashbacks of my ****** prelude in high school on motegi wheels with that color lol )
But I think they accent the truck nicely I’m quite stoked on them

World finals was in my hometown at the fairgrounds. Nice not having to drive. Also was the kickoff/season opener for 2023. I didn’t compete in finals but did for the kickoff. First indoor show we have done which was interesting to say the least haha.

If you have been following my build thread it might be known or probably obvious I absolutely love oem style clear lights. Been hoping someone would make clear style oem tails for our tahoes ever since I got mine. And as of today I got my set!! Got home late so the pics are dark and Tahoe is dirty. Gonna wash it and get some more pics in the daylight. I am so excited been waiting for this forever.
