1/17/2017 wheel bearings went on me and finally got them replaced. Also made a new plate for my bass knob and voltmeter in the factory cassette player location. Piece of 1/4” aluminum plastic welded to the replacement pocket did the job

1/28/2017 made a trip to Seattle to pick up a few odyssey 3150 batteries. At this point I was running a 5k amp with one 270 alt and two lead acid batteries under the hood. Not a good combo when voltage was constantly dropping to low 11’s. Had to add a few more grounds in the back so came up through the floor right by the seat bracket from the frame.

Didn’t have a picture but yes those grounds were painted after install to avoid rust

2/10/17. I’m pretty sure I had already snagged the esky vents before this but it was the first picture I had that I found. Also was down at the loca stereo shop and they have me a deal I couldn’t refuse on a kenwood double din and metra dash bezel that happened to already be paint matched.

3/9/2017 moving day! First time pulling the enclosed with the Tahoe. It did pretty well.

3/24/2017. Time to upgrade subs in search of that 150db. Another trip to Seattle to pick up these 2 crossfire xsv2 15’s. Also grabbed another odyssey while I was up there. Made some aluminum buss bars for the back battery bank which I soon learned was a mistake. But I’ll get to that here soon.

4/14/17 replaced the rest of the red wire I had under the hood with black wire and threw a pair of agms under the hood. Sometime before this I had went to the wrecking yard and pulled a batter tray out of a wrecked duramax for the passenger side so I could run dual batteries under the hood.

Started doing some pretty crappy photo shop of different wheels cause I wanted to go bigger and these moto metals were my thought in a 20x10 but still wasn’t decided.

6/5/17. For some reason I dealt with the side post batteries and having way too many connections on them. finally was smart and got some threaded shafts and Allen bolts for the connections on the batteries. Used sky high 6 spot aluminum bolt terminals on the stock battery with the bolts and since I only had a couple connections on the other side I used the threaded shafts with a lock nut. 3/8-16 is the thread pitch if I remember correctly. Cleaned things up and allowed a tighter connection

6/5/17 did the obs drl mod and a local buddy of mine that owns an auto lighting accessory company had showed me the new switchbacks he got in. Picked up a couple pairs along with some flush mount pods for reverse lights. Still love how bright both of these are. And still work great to this day. The switchbacks are jdm astar brand and the pods were his rl lighting brand that I’m sure are just relabeled ones from China or something but they have worked great. Learned my lesson of measure twice and cut once. Put the pods a little too far out to the edge of the bumper and had to notch the inner corner bumper brace :emotions34:

6/9/17 remember when I said it was a mistake using those aluminum buss bars? Well this is why. I didn’t have a battery box or tray to make sure they were perfectly level and flat so the Outer battery terminal got stressed and cracked the case. Leaking a little onto the carpet :favorites68::emotions122: ended up replacing the battery and aluminum bars with 2/0 cable jumpers.

6/11/17 my cousin was in town from Florida visiting and hadn’t really seen much of the northwest so we went for a drive up the local mountain and found a mud hole. Stupid me I had a audio competition two weeks later so ended up having to deep clean the engine bay after mud and water got on everything.

6/25/17. Had a local audio comp. first one for me during the 2017 season. Got everything cleaned up and added another fan for the amp cause it was getting hot fairly quick. Finally reached my 150 goal with the 15’s. 150.8 clamping 4698 watts. Took first in suv 3 at that show. It was 100°+ that day and no ac was fun. Windows down only. Since I bought the Tahoe in the winter of 16 I didn’t check to make sure the ac worked like an idiot. Lesson learned. Compressor was shot so the first two summers with the Tahoe weren’t the most fun Because I didn’t replace the compressor. At least where I live summers aren’t scorching hot.

Also drove around like a rolling billboard for a couple months to try to advertise for surf city. At this point the stickers were starting to get out of hand with all the different colors and so many on the rig.

7/14/17. With surf city right around the corner I took the Tahoe down to have it detailed for the show. I do not have patience with buffing and waxing a vehicle so I will gladly pay someone to do it. Came out looking great. Also took the bullet inserts out of the grille.

7/28/17. Had a friend inform me that his car was broken down 30 miles north at his work. All he said was it started smoking and quit running. Free if I hauled it away so I grabbed my dads flat bed and went to pick it up. Quickly found a hole in the front of the block. Got lucky though it started and I still was able to drive it onto the trailer. I definitely found my limit on how much I felt comfortable towing with the Tahoe it wasn’t the happiest but 60 mile trip without issues I can’t complain. Worth it for a free car though.

8/23/17. Surf city is 3 days away. Got a lead on a set of door speaker pods for 2 6.5s per door. At this point my subs were overpowering my single set of speakers in the front. Grabbed another set of focals and got everything mounted after work that week. Focal decided the crossovers needed to be huge and being on a time crunch I just double side taped them to the door to get me through the weekend.

Only thing I didn’t like is that the grilles for those speakers were flimsy and very easy to dent in. Of course the pods made the speakers right at knee level for getting in and out which scared me. Luckily to this day no one has put their knee through a door speaker yet.

8/25/17 surf city sound off 2017 is finally here. Of course I noticed my tire was low that morning so I went and got it fixed before I left for the weekend. Decided to stay the whole weekend at the casino on the coast where the event is head every year. Was a great weekend and great show. Took first again and decided time to change things up so I sold my ampere 5k in search of more power.

9/1/17 new amp finally came in. Gave a full bridge Brazilian board a shot with this soundigital 8k 1ohm model. Being full bridge meant I couldn’t wire my subs down to .35 ohm like I previously had them with the ampere 5k. Wired them up to 1.4 and began understanding how much impedance rise can effect output. Not being wired so low allowed me to play longer without the amp heating up though so that was a plus. Pulled the amp rack and threw some black vinyl on it then painted the sides black so it wasn’t just bare mdf. Will say I do love the small footprints on these Brazilian Board amps.

9/9/17 Finally started on that civic I picked up for free. Not only did the engine have a hole in the block but the interior and exterior were trashed. Picked up a new motor for 300 and spend a day or two deep cleaning it. Found some cheap hx aluminum wheels as well. Got it running and driving after having to swap out the trans With the new engine from some gnarly input shaft noise. Ended up selling it for 1300 not long after which finally pushed me to buying some stuff for the Tahoe

9/23/17 new wheels came in finally! 20x12 hostile sprockets with 305/55r20 mastercraft courser mxts. Made it look like a whole different rig and I loved it. Had to cut about a inch off the front bumper, and do a full NorCal mod to the inner fender for clearance since I was only leveled.

10/6/17. I am not a fan of the squatted look in any way shape or form. May have noticed the back was sagging a little and it became much more noticeable with the new wheel and tire combo. Ordered z71 rear springs and new bilstein shocks to replace the worn out shocks that were on it. Springs gave me another inch Of lift and no more squat :) while swapping everything out I got very lucky though the trans jack I had supporting the rear end decided to give out on me. Spraying hydraulic fluid everywhere. Luckily the rear shocks were mounted so the caught the axle before it could droop to far and ruin a brake line.
