You ever get in a serious at speed accident, that free flying spare is going to knock some sense in to you. That is a hell of a missile flying around in there.

In my '95 2DR the spare locates in the cargo area bolted vertically to a mount on the driver's side.

If you're looking for options, I rigged this up on my 99.

Used a Curt tire mount, hacked the end off, then bolted it into a hitch mount for a wheelchair basket. The spare folds down out of the way when I need to get in the back, and there's room between the spare and the body for me to mount gas cans or other camping/roadtrip essentials.
