Well, my 3 week old (to me) Tahoe was rear-ended today, destroying the hitch cover. Does anyone know the best route to a replacement? Do they come painted? Mine is the larger size one that has the locking tabs on the bottom that hold it in place.

Thanks

Mike

i think in 09 the ltz got the same bumper as the denali which includes a hitch cover. so the 07 ltz wouldnt come with a hitch cover unless you change to the denali rear bumper. or get one off ebay that just slides into the hitch receiver and i imagine it would be a pain in the ass to open everytime you wanna tow! just my 2 cents

I have an 08 Tahoe meaning I got the older bumper and got a trailer hitch cover from ebay that snaps into the hitch receiver. Came unpainted and got it painted summit white to match the rest of the bumper. Looks good but not as good as a conversion to the denali/esky bumper with the built in trailer hitch cover!

Yeah that thing looks funny. My bumper cover was stabbed with a forklift so I put on an Escalade one that had the hitch cover. Looks great. :D

Yea i noticed that in your car pics.. looks great man... Where'd you get the bumper from? Also I asked my local custom paint guy who painted my mirrors/bowties how much the step pad/chrome strip is on it and he said 280.. is that right?! Seems kinda expensive for such a small part... That's NOT including the actual denali/esky bumper

That actually is correct. For whatever reason it is an expensive piece. I got my bumper assembly from a local salvage yard. It came with the chrome strip. Before that though, I took the step pad off my dads Denali and installed it on my Tahoe bumper. It didn't fit exactly right. But now I have my Escalade bumper and I love it.

I just saw a bumper assembly (with step pad and chrome strip) on ebay used for 199 + 65 shipping. It's got a small crack in it but my local custom paint/body shop guy can pretty much salvage any bumper and re-sand/re-paint it so that wouldn't be a problem.. I just don't want it to be TOO used though..

What do you think? Would you buy it?

It was in the auction title. Took me a minute but I noticed it! Although you never know, that seller put a sticker on it saying it's an Acura bumper cover...so who knows what kind of Tahoe or Yukon it came off of! It might still fit, but I do know that the Hybrids have a very different rear fascia.
